Mariah has a long successful career-probably one of the ten most popular billboard artists among our entire Artistry--especially since modern artists who have shattered the billboard charts weren't known when this thing started (Rihanna, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Pitbull, Bruno Mars etc do not have rounds but would likely have had the contest started more recently than it did)  

IMPORTANT NOTES ON MARIAH CAREY

1) The Star Spangled Banner cover by Mariah is eligible by technicality, however I can say pretty much outright its not in the spirit of the competition and will probably cost you valuable points

2) Mariah is very well known for her Christmas hits--they ARE eligible, but remember the point of Artistry is to shine the spotlight on the artists.  Song which she didn't put a definitive stamp on will draw some ire naturally.  If you want to parody her Christmas songs, try to pick the ones that she is known for-that she defined the popular style for like "All I Want for Christmas is You".

3) Mariah is epic in hooking up with other artists, remember the 50% rule.  Duets are fine, Mariah featuring XXX is fine, however XXX featuring Mariah is NOT qualified, also NOT qualified are songs where it is equal parts but there are three or more artists--again if she is the primary artist, featuring someone else, or several others is fine, or even Mariah & XXX featuring XXX, as long as there are only two primary artists and she's one of them (I don't consider 'featured' artists as defining the song for the purpose of this competition. . .which makes sense because think of artists like Lil Wayne--technically if he had a round and any song featuring him were qualified, some songs by Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Enrique Iglesias et al would qualify--and is a parody of I'm Into You really tributing Lil Wayne? hence the rule)

I think the only way a song that "features" an artist would count would be any song "by" David Guetta, 'cause he just produces the songs and the "featured" artist does all the singing. Weird, huh?

That's a good point--of course most of the artists that are David Guetta featuring XXX are artists who fit the description of "became big after the Artistry started" and therefore don't have a round, but yes, by all means-I agree that'd be an exception to the rule. . .good thinking TCOP.  I will NEVER understand why David Guetta, talented as his DJ skills may be, gets credit over the artists who sing the songs--Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez wouldn't even be known if that was the case, and while I love the beats of most pop/dance songs that make my Ipod, its the words that make the songs what they are.  At the same time, I do think perhaps the primary composers should receive more credit than they do--mixed opinions, but that's getting off topic--as it stands, David Guetta is far different from the pack when it comes to artist attribution

Well, I for one am totally doing Mariah Carey's Christmas music because it's the only music by her that I know/tolerate...
