Really tempted to do "21st Century Schizoid Man" purely because it was sampled in a recent Kanye West song ("Power" in case you cared)...then parody that song for the KW round of the Hip-Hop Specialist contest. Luckily I've already got an idea for it, so in the meantime, I'd like to know why this round will apparently suck, Matthias. I presume it's because you don't like King Crimson, but what is it about them that sucks? Just curious.

Their 60s stuff is Snoozesville... But then there's their 00s stuff which is pretty kick-ass metal. I'm without a doubt going to parody their 00s stuff.

Good luck on this one kids! I wonder who the hell chose Crimson. The first two albums are pretty damned good IMHO but they arent known for great lyrics..if they use them at all!. Its all about the moods and the musicianship with these guys.

I have to admit, I haven't ever heard of this band either because I am so young. I agree with Matthias though. I'm not a big fan of their music either, a lot of it is very boring. It's hard for me to write a parody of a song I'm really not too interested in, but I guess that's a challenge I'll have to overcome  ;). Plus I'm determined to get into every round until the end since I entered so late into the competition.

Okay, I'm going with "Circus"...mainly because it has more to work with than most other KC songs. Dunno what I'm gonna do with it, but there's a lot of options (Burgers, Workers, Lurkers, the list goes on), so I'll think of something...

Incidentally, I hope no-one chooses "Cat Food". Seriously sounds like they spilled the titular substance on the keyboard and let their cat at it, then left the resultant jangly mish-mash in the final track. Real pain to listen to.

Though TBH, I don't have a Word file for who submitted what, only one for every artist (with slots for the secret artists as they are revealed) as a way of tracking which ones are left to appear. Finding out who submitted what was just a matter of finding the thread, which involved searching for Charnstar's profile and going through his posts as I know he submitted the Skyhooks and doesn't post much.

I don't know some of it is boring, and some is really bizarre. .. Mr Bungle is bizarre--not a big fan of him either. . .

The difference is Bungle had a great sense of humor. King Crimson has NO sense of humor, except in the song titles.

That is what made Artistry fun...some of our individual best rounds have come from artists we despised!  I would recommend you try "Heartbeat", which I posted on page 1 of the thread. Good luck!

Nope. They've all been at least 5 except Lifehouse (Matthias missed that one for reasons that escape me), though that's due to the five guys who have endeavoured to be in ever round for whatever reason (you, me, Rex, Matthias and Dave). Ah, the Artistry Five...has a nice ring to it, don'tcha think?

King Crimson is not a typical artist, you far from suck, I had my idea Satruday, but it took me til the Wednesday to get it to where I was happy with it--

FTR--past contestants in this contest gets 3 points toward the overall total at the end for every round they vote in a round they weren't in.
