Subject: Artistry Round 53 (John Denver)Entry Deadline Extension: 7/17/2009
Written By: Below Average Dave on 07/02/09 at 6:24 am
I'm just the messenger, my Media Player is the picker
Annie's Song
Country Road
Leaving on a Jet Plane
Sunshine on My Shoulder
Thank God I'm a Country Boy
Rocky Mountain High
Poems, Prayers and Promises
Calypso
Perhaps Love
Follow Me
Shanghai Breezes
Looking for Space
The Strangest Dream
Back Home Again
The Eagle and The Hawk
A Song for All Lovers
Sweet Surrender
For Baby
Some Days Are Diamonds
Wind Song
Truth be told--John Denver's collection is endless I could spend days putting his well known stuff up, it'd be like trying to go through the Beatles collection, so that's a good start list, obviously all JD songs are welcome. . .

As I've said... I've done a few of this songs before, but none of them are contest ready (Seeing that I wrote a lot of them within the first year I've been on the site, and back then I was pretty bad a parody writing. Anyways hopefully there's another fun song like "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" by him because I'm probably going to end up parodying that song or one just like it)

>:( I'd allow it on technicality, but don't think for a second that I won't consider the fact that it's not at all John Denver's style and that pretty much every artist has done Xmas covers in my personal vote. . . .it's like in Ages when people stretch the topic, it technically fits, but it's not what the contest is about. It's one thing to do covers that change the song to a whole new style to fit the artist, but to do an Xmas cover that is by one of the most covered artists in history is kinda slick.

Yep, it's gonna be a parody of Annie's Song.
BTW, here's the first line of the Annie's Song parody I didn't write, if anyone wants to run with it:
"You filled up your iPod"

I'm also writing a parody of Annie's Song, it being about a guy who ate a sandwich and wishes that he could eat it again.
I really can't take Annie's Song seriously, given it's use in a Monty Python bit, link here: http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/song_details.aspx?SongID=17525

Because one of our regulars has not yet entered, and because I've got a busy night ahead of me with an even busier morning, after I'll leave it at a 'disappointing' day, I'm extending the deadline until Friday, the next round will not be affected, and will be posted shortly. . .
My entry for this round is "City Roads"
thanks guys

Everyone, please forgive my lateness. A lot of stuff at home (primarily my wife in the hospital--no worries, she will be fine) have delayed my ability to jump online. :-[
Dave, "The Kung Fu Movie's Almost Over" should be on site tomorrow morning. I appreciate the extension very much.
Thanks again, everyone.

No problem, you know I have a clear understanding of life, I figured something was up, as I would for anyone who is or becomes a regular (I consider regular to have participated in the past 5 rounds or more than half the total rounds), I figured I'd post a short extension, anytime Agri!

That's odd, I think it'd be easier to think that "regulars = you, Agri, Rex, Matty and me a.k.a. the guys who've been mad enough to be in every single round so far". That's my opinion anyway.

You five I will always look out for, but many people weren't around when I started Artistry, and anyone who joins us regularly (like when Syncronos did) becomes kind of part of our adopted family. . .I look out for anyone who makes an effort to become a regular in the contest
