Karaoke Revolutionized
Week Fifteen
The Darkness's "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"
Karaoke Revolutionized is an ongoing project that allows parodists the opportunity to parody popular songs that they wouldn't ordinarily take a look at, especially the older folks on this site who generally stick to 60's and 70's hits. This project follows the famous games that allow players to sing along to their favorite songs, using microphones that hook up to the Playstation 2. Usually all big top Billboard hits, with on the rare occasion a few exceptions.
This week's song is "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" by the artist The Darkness
A little information on The Darkness...
- Their traditional hard rock style of music was influenced by bands like Queen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Sparks, Van Halen, T. Rex, .38 Special, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Boston and Thin Lizzy.
- They were best known for the falsetto of their lead singer Justin Hawkins
- Their hits include...
1. "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"
2. "Love Is Only a Feeling"
3. "Is It Just Me?"
A little information on the song, "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"...
- The song was named the 94th best hard rock song of all time by VH1 (based on fan voting)
- The song reached #2 in the UK Singles Charts, beaten by the Black Eyed Peas' "Where Is the Love?"
Lyrics:
Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel
My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel
Touching you, touching me,
Touching you cause you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!
I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everything is A OK!
Touching you, touching me
Touching you cause you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!
Guitar!
Touching you, touching me
Touching you god you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!

Luckily, it's a song that I already liked... I believe that the lead singer described it as 'the fresh new sound of rock and roll music'... Great band, ended too soon.
Here's my parody...

I would, but I don't know that song... Dial-up prevents Youtube use. ;]

The nice thing about Matty's KR series is that he provides the lyrics on the front page for each round...don't let lack of youtube stop you Silver Power, although it is often very helpful...
That being said, I am sorry I haven't been in a parody-writing mode as of late...little things going on at home (actually my big little thing, my son, is a handful while I play Mr. Mom) just exhaust my brain...it's hard to get a moment of ME-time in. I get online here when I'm lucky... :-\\
I do have a good Satisfaction idea on hand that I will get in when I can.
