(Congrats for making it this far guys! 2nd to last round left... Good luck, The 50's can be tricky!)
Here are the few rules that this contest has...
1. Make sure that your song has something to do with the topic (That's why it's there for)
2. Make sure your song is from that half decade (If you don't know ask)
3. Make sure that you get it done in the time limit given (Which is two weeks from today)
4. Make sure to post it here when it's uploaded on Amiright
5. Have fun with it
Deadline: April 22nd

I think my parody "I Enjoy Seeing the Gays" might qualify. It's OS was written in 1958/59 for the musical Flower Drum Song, and though it's not about an ethnic group or nationality, it's definitely about a lifestyle! What say you? ???

Would constantly being obsessed with one's image count as a lifestyle? 'Cause I have a good idea for that involving an Elvis song...

In the sense of being a model, yes, or if it's because of youth, yes, or even if it's because they are a journalist I'd say yes.. .so long as it's not just paranoia, but certain elements of fashion or appearance are part of a lifestyle. . .I've got one coming hopefully Monday about the Hollywood lifestyle.

I revised an moldy oldie for this round, because I liked the idea I had back in '05 and the song choice seeing that it was in Back To The Future (One of my favorite movies of all time!) Anyways... "Hell's Angels (Revised)" should be up tomorrow

Mine would've been up today, but I must've submitted it too late for Chucky to put it up. If it's not up tomorrow, I'll send him a message.

Ummm... I have some questions about my intended entry, which should be ready for submission after it posts tomorrow. If this counts as too much shinanigans for one person, let me know:
I have a World of Warcraft song submitted on the site. The song is 'The Battle Hyme of the Republic' which I didn't have a year for when I originally submitted. While browsing top40db.net I came across a recording of 'Battle Hymn' by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir dated 1959. Would this then allow the song 'Battle Hymn of the Republic' to be fairly used in this tournament?
As far as I can tell, the lyrics are the same for all the versions I have come across, and I'm planning on submitting an updated version to enter tomorrow that lists the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as the original performers of the version that I reference.
Again, let me know if this seems like an offensively large amount of shinanigans.
Oh, I consider World of Warcraft to be a lifestyle choice because people, millions, are reserving WEEKNIGHTS specifically to play this game. I have friends who won't do anything on a specific day of the week, because their guild in WOW is raiding. I wish it wasn't part of people's lifestyles, but the indeniable popularity of the game, combined with the addictiveness and dedication it has inspired, is what I am using as the basis for this subject matter. It's funny because it's true. I hope the rewrite of my song continues to make this point as well.

I hope I speak for Matt when saying a game like that certainly can be a lifestyle, have to see it in final form, but a fair submission no doubt. I've always gone by when the listed performer released something as for a date of release. IE Lady Marmalade by Moulin Rouge is a 2000s song but by LaBelle it's a 70s and by All Saints it's an 90s, all three versions are so different from each other that it is significant which form you are covering. Being that the version you are submitting was in fact released in 1959 would mean you are parodying a 1950s song, regardless of when the original was recorded or written, so at least on my end I see that as a qualifying entry so long as it is submitted with that as the author, Matty if your opinion is different feel free to correct me, it's just I know you think similarly to me on these kind of issues, so I figured I'd step in to give 2nz an answer real quick.

1.) Glen, I got away with "Unforgettable" for the 90s round...'nuff said.
2.) Arwen, come on. We all know you can do it.
3.) I'm working on one that I hope to finish tonight. I seems like kind of an obvious idea, so I'm checking to make sure it hasn't been done before.

I'd seriously like to think so...but as the time ebbs away and I still have NOTHING to go on...I'm not sure I believe it anymore.
I'm totally not asking for an extension. And, if I don't get something submitted by the deadline...I'll vote on what's been submitted, of course.

As usual the official deadline is not until the first person votes and of us, except for me are last minute voters. If you play your cards right you actually have 2 more weeks to enter something ;)

Alright...I've got something written. It's not the BEST thing I've ever done...but alas...I had to write something, right??
I'll super tweak it to make sure pacing's alright this afternoon/evening, and it should be up tomorrow. If everyone's cool with that.

Mine is also submitted! I did a google search on my subject and "senior lifestyles" had 49,600,000 hits, so I hope that that qualifies as being relevant to the topic in the contest :)

At least it's more relevant to lifestyles than "Minesweeper" is to Danger ;)

Mine is "Guys From the Shire," because Middle Earth culture is the BEST culture there is. ;)

AND...there are about 3 million versions of the OS on youtube...(3 million or about 8...not sure)...but none of them paces even close to the same...or that well with my parody. BUT...the link below provides the version that I worked with...if you want to leave it instead of a youtube link, Matty.
