Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity"



    Karaoke Revolutionized is an ongoing project that allows parodists the opportunity to parody popular songs that they wouldn't ordinarily take a look at, especially the older folks on this site who generally stick to 60's and 70's hits. This project follows the famous games that allow players to sing along to their favorite songs, using microphones that hook up to the Playstation 2. Usually all big top Billboard hits, with on the rare occasion a few exceptions.

This week's song is "Virtual Insanity" by the artist Jamiroquai

A little information on Jamiroquai...

- Jamiroquai is a Grammy Award-winning English acid jazz/funk/soul band. Jamiroquai was initially the most prominent component in the early-1990s London-based acid jazz movement, alongside groups such as Incognito, the Brand New Heavies, Galliano, and Corduroy.

- The band name is a blend of Jam session and "iroquai", based on the Iroquois, a Native American tribe.

A little information on the song, "Virtual Insanity"...

- The first 15 seconds of the album version of the song contain sampled sound effects from the beginning of the film Alien, when the "Mother" computer onboard the Nostromo spaceship receives an unidentified signal from a nearby planet.

- The video earned recognition from critics for its special effects: the floor appears to move while the rest of the room stays still, allowing for Kay to perform moves not normally seen in music videos. In reality, the walls were moving and the floor was stationary.
