It appears my "trouser malfunction" line may have inspired your picture choice. . . Seasonal. . .any seasonal I presume or just Christmas (though I'll probably do Christmas regardless)

Toasters? Did they pop bread in the air at the end of their performance or something? What an interesting band name that is.

Hey Matthias, if you liked Tubring, you will probably also like Blue Meanies...they are more psycho-punk-circus music (a la Mr. Bungle) than ska, on the whole.

Is "Our House"--which is not a ska-rhythm number yet performed by a renowned ska band-- eligible?

Hmmmm.... Good question.
I would probably say no, because it doesn't have a trumpet, and isn't that the main requirement of ska?
Ska is pretty much punk with a trumpet, and if it doesn't have a trumpet then it's not ska.
At least that's what I'm used to with ska... There might be some without a trumpet that count as ska still, but I'm pretty sure the trumpet makes it.
So I would have to say "No" sorry Jack.

that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was a precursor to rocksteady and reggae.
Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line, accented guitar or piano rhythms on the offbeat, and in some cases, jazz-like horn riffs. In the early 1960s, ska was the dominant musical genre of Jamaica, and it was also popular with British mods. Many skinheads, in various decades, have also enjoyed ska (along with reggae, rocksteady and other genres). Music historians typically divide the history of ska into three periods: the original Jamaican ska scene of the 1960s, the 2 Tone ska revival that started in England in the late 1970s, and the third wave ska movement, which started in the 1980s.

Try Reel Big Fish, Sublime, Mighty Mighty Bosstones...those will be also up your alley, based on your experience. Some of these referenced artists will NOT be found easily on Youtube or on lyric sites.

Me ears are like ice (to "The Israelites" by Desmond Dekker). I saw Desmond Dekker play in Oxford, 15 or so years ago... must have taken about ten minutes to get past the first line of this song (not that I'll really say he was milking it, but...)
