3. Topics are not limited to the decade, they are two separate parts
4. On October 3rd the entries close and the voting begins
5. Vote by replying to voting thread with your five favorites in order:
Top choice gets 5 points, next gets 4 points and so on to 1 point for your fifth favourite.
6. You're not allowed to vote for your own song.
7. DKTOS, is not allowed as a comment whilest voting
8. Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.
9. Voting continues until October 17th

However, there will STILL be an expectation that you comment and vote in the event you are not participating in, unless you have a valid reason for not being able to.
13. Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post. Changes are made only when a majority of that event's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.
Scoring: Like the rules, the scoring is similar to the to the Ages, awarding the winner first place, with 10 points. Person who comes in 2nd, Points and so on, and so forth...
HAVE FUN!!!

Ai-yi-yi. . .
How'd that happen. . .
We are starting with the hardest of your ten genres, and the hardest of the topics (at least of the random ones you told me) and the deadlines are going to run con-current with ABC and all of this during "The Skyhooks" in Artistry--a band I have never heard of. . .you know Matthias. . .that website, it's likely going to have to wait. . .That's quite a combo there.

Eh, maybe not. A commercial relies on simplicity and repetition in its message, so the same is true for most blues songs...swing tunes like "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" would be a bitch to do, though.

Is this a commercial to sell anything that we want? Or by "your own commercial" are you meaning...like...a commercial for ourselves? I mean, I know that I'm the Queen of self-promotion...so it's not like that would be a problem...I'm just curious... :)

How come both Decathlons have started with an absolutely cruddy genre...and both involve Frank Sinatra?!
Seeming as I mentioned him, I'll rip Ol Blue Eyes. Just to pay homage to the original Decathlon ;).
I'll think I'll turn 'My Way' into 'Ben Gay'...as soon as I find out more about this magical substance.

Does Jim Croce's 'Working At The Car Wash Blues' count as part of the 'blues' genre? ;D ;D ;D

I highly doubt it, only if Johnny Cash's "Folsum Prison Blues", and "Cocaine Blues".... And Elton John's "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" all count.

Hate to be picky, but that's really stretching the definition of "swing music", dude. Most would consider that to be "easy listening" or "pop standards". If you are going to do Frank, you need to do something from before 1957 or so.

d'oh! I knew that was going to happen, and yes, "Bye My Black T**d" occurred to me too as I was scrolling thru the letters, but I settled on the simple "Bye My Blackbird"
I'll try to come up with another one, especially after reading your clever effort Phil, but it's a tricky genre. If I can't, I'll carry on anyway :(

Pimping? (What I had thought of was "Bye Bye Slack Turd" as a kind of advertising slogan for an anti-diarrhetic (if there is such a word) - there's quite a lot of lines that just kind of slipped out.)
Sorry if I've muddied the waters (but, hey, I knew there was a reason to get it out early ;)), there's been a few times I've had a great idea, checked to see if it's been done already and ended up being distracted by lyrics someone else has written so the parody is never finished.

Hey bobpie: how about "Instant Food" to Glenn Miller's "In The Mood"?.....you could write about being a bloke waxing lyrical about his diet of snack foods, microwaveables and pot noodles...
And here's a freebie chorus if you want to use it:
