Subject: Halloween Parody Competition - Entry Thread
Written By: Red Ant on 10/18/06 at 4:26 am
I don't know how many guys and ghouls here like Halloween, but I do, enough so to make a competition out of it.
The theme is obviously Halloween, so any parodies that are October 31st related are eligible, regardless of when they were written. Of course, if you haven't an All Hallows' Eve parody yet, you have until midnight (EST) October 31st, 2006 to write and submit the URL to this thread.
Rules will be similar to SOTM, but not identical:
~~The parody has to be posted to AmIRight no later than October 31st, 2006.
~~Vote by replying to the voting thread (when it's posted) with your favorites in order:
~~Point ranking method is undetermined at this time. I'm thinking that all scare-o-dies should get points, which would depend on number of entrants. If there are 7 entries or less, that's how we'll do it. Otherwise, we'll do the standard 5 point votes.
~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.
~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.
~~Voting continues until the end of November 14th, 2006 (EST).
~~By entering, you are agreeing to read and comment* on all the other entries and vote.
~~Anyone who enters but does not both comment on all entries and vote by the deadline will be decapitated, or will be attacked by a pack of hungry jackals, then by a zombie, and then Michael Myers will hack your face off. Either way, decaying Jack-O-Lanterns will be laughing at your festering corpse.
*~~ If your parody did not have comments enabled when it was posted, we will egg your house and TP your trees, but it's eligible. You still have to comment on all other entries.
~~No tiebreaking rules are in effect.

*assumes somewhat sarcastic tone*
Halloween is basically three things:
1: Kids 12 and under dress up in spooky costumes and bother all of the people in the neighborhood for candy. They knock on doors and yell "Trick or Treat!". This happens October 31st each year.
2: Kids 13-17 usually are more into the "trick" side of Halloween. Apparently, throwing eggs at a stationary automobile is a lot of fun. Cleaning it up and having 500$ worth of clear coating repaired is not fun.
3: Adults escort their kids, hand out candy at doors, and/or occasionally decorate their yards to look like cemetaries. They *might perhaps* also wait in the bushes with a paintball gun, just waiting for someone to egg their car again. ;)
Carving pumpkins so they have scary faces is also a main thing for Halloween.
This Wiki article on Halloween has the history of the day, but this one explains what I listed better.
Note that walking in a bank, in a Rambo costume, and yelling "Trick or Treat!" is generally frowned upon.
I can't wait for Halloween this year! ;D
