Subject: January '05 SOTM Competition
Written By: Luke Brattoni on 02/01/05 at 2:04 am
Ahoy, all! We bring in the new year with a new voting system being trialled. ("Guilty! Guilty!")
Usual rules, but now you can vote for your favourite 5 parodies.
Claude's legalese spiel:
~~Entries begin after the last parody update of the month.
~~Any song first appearing at AmiRight during the contest month (this year) is eligible.
~~To enter, reply to this thread with the url of your entry.
~~By entering, you are agreeing to read all the other entries and vote.
~~On the eighth day of the month, entries close and voting begins.
~~Vote by replying to voting thread with your five favorites in order:ÂÂ
Top choice gets 5 points, next gets 4 points and so on to 1 point for your fifth favourite.
~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.
~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.
~~Voting continues until the last day of the month ends.
~~Anyone who's participated in a SOTM contest may vote.
~~Anyone who enters but does not vote by the end of the month is disqualified and may not participate next month.
~~Voters must leave a brief comment on every parody, indicating they've read it for the SOTM contest (something like, "SOTM--555" or whatever)
~~When the new month begins, the first person to enter the next contest should copy this message and start the new entry thread with it.
~~Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post. Changes are made only when a majority of that month's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.

This is the one this month that took me the longest to write. (research, baby) Mari wanted the one about the face of Jesus in an oyster, but I thought the song was a little obscure (One Night In Bangkok) So I'm going with "Hard Life For a Blonde"

Now then. There were a number of people who entered the December SOTM but didn't comment on the entries, despite Claude's polite reminder, and despite it pretty much being the only freaking rule we have. At least one of those scofflaws has already submitted an entry for the January SOTM. My personal suggestion is that we beat such people to a bloody pulp. But perhaps that's too humane. Any other suggestions?

I've had an odd month: no real killer songs, but a lot that I'm really pleased with. Hard to choose, really.. but I think I'm going to go with

Well, it´s been a bit messed up by "..." being replaced with "?" and stuff, but I´m going with a song where I like to think that I also managed to get some bonus humor out of the intro and bottom comments.
"Snot" to the tune of "Kiss" by Tomes Jones covering Prince.
