Subject: December Song of the Month Entries -- Entries Closed
Written By: Claude_Prez on 01/01/05 at 11:13 am
~~Entries begin after the last parody update of the month.
~~Any song first appearing at AmiRight during the contest month (this year) is eligible.
~~To enter, reply to this thread with the url of your entry.
~~By entering, you are agreeing to read all the other entries and vote.
~~On the eighth day of the month, entries close and voting begins.
~~Vote by replying to voting thread with your three favorites in order: Top choice gets 3 points, next gets 2 points, third favorite gets 1 point.
~~You're not allowed to vote for your own song.
~~Once you've posted a vote, you're not allowed to change it.
~~Voting continues until the last day of the month ends.
~~Anyone who's participated in a SOTM contest may vote.
~~Anyone who enters but does not vote by the end of the month is disqualified and may not participate next month.
~~Voters must leave a brief comment on every parody, indicating they've read it for the SOTM contest (something like, "SOTM--555" or whatever)
~~When the new month begins, the first person to enter the next contest should copy this message and start the new entry thread with it.
~~Rule changes may be suggested by any participant in their entry post. Changes are made only when a majority of that month's voters specify a "yes" vote along with their contest votes.

Happy New Year you all :)
I only wrote one last month inspired by how trying my finals were. So here it is:
'Twelve Days of Finals' to a tune you all know and are probably sick of at this point.

This song's been a hit here down under, mainly due to Australian Idol exposure.
Someone SURPRISE ME and put a 'DKTOS' in, just for something fun and different this month.

Well, I had a couple I really liked, but I'm going to go with the last one I wrote in 2004 - my first parody of a tune by the Beach Boys, using their classic "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" as a parody of a pirate who is quite pleased at his new wooden peg leg - "Wooden; It Be Nice".

The November Contest was so fun that I think I'll enter this one as well.
This parody was the hardest one (disregard any puns) I've done so far. :)

Ya, umm, if we made a parody before December can we submit it, because it was on amiright in december if we submitted it earlier than december?

Afraid not; sorry. But if we have trouble getting enough entries to the Wild Card round, you'll be able to enter it there, if no one has any objections.

Heavy Rock doesn´t seem to do so good in these comps, maybe too many DKTOS? Hopefully this is the second best known song from this band, I know it´s been on their live set for ages...
"For Us With Broken Gifts (will Receipt Do?)" to the tune of "For Those About To Rock (we Salute You)" by AC/DC:

And here´s a 30 seconds clip of the "battery" verse passage in the middle of the song:

In December, I submitted a parody of an entire freaking album (The Dark Side of the Moon), and people stayed away in droves. So now I'm going to force you all to confront it - well, part of it, anyway - whether you want to or not. (And isn't that what the SOTM is all about?)
Here is "Chimney Damage" to Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage":

For those who DKTOS (don't know the original song) and DPTAALSTM (don't plan to attend any laser shows this month), it's temporarily available here:

I guess I'll swing the opposite direction and pick a song for it's humor instead of it's cleverness.
So I'll submit "Super Gals In Sequined Gowns Were Wearing Red Galoshes" this time.

I submit this parody with hesitation, knowing that the majority of SOTM-voters just happen to be men who might be slightly offended by the content of said parody.
Oh well. If I don't win, I can sue your sexist asses.

Not sure which to choose, but at the risk of seeming like a wet blanket.. having thought "water lot of songs to choose from", I thought I'd go for the high-risk industrial solvent that is
Dihydrogen Monoxide
PS Spaff - is the NSotP album finished? I don't know the individual songs that well, so I figured I'd listen through the DSOTM album in one go while reading the parody. (unless you're planning on recording the whole album, that is - that would be extremely cool)

As in motor oil? Are you suggesting turning water into oil?
Nice suggestion, but I'm still working on the basics of this Christlike stuff - forgiveness and charity, for example. The performance of miracles is still weeks away.

PS When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
No, don't give up the spirit, spaff ;)
