Subject: ABCs round V - Voting Thread - Voting Closed
Written By: philbo on 11/16/04 at 1:33 pm
A more precise definition of the 3-2-1 voting (with thanks to Pippin for defining exactly what I didn't get round to):
Each entrant must vote within the allotted timeframe or be liable to the sanction of not voting in the following “XX†number of contests.ÂÂ
To vote, each entrant must choose three different songs and allocate the following points score:
1st place – 3 points
2nd place – 2 points
3rd place – 1 point
By definition the most votes a song can be allocated by a voter is three points.
Tie-break rule again: in the event that the number of votes is tied, it'll be a draw - we'll have two winners and a third place (or whatever).
All votes must be in by end of play Sunday week, that is 28th November (I think)
#1. Rice Cube & Watt Daddy - "Vote For the Terminator"
#2. Johnny D - "Vicodin's The Feeling I Adore" (OS mp3)
#3. Phil Alexander - "Venereal Crabsody"
#4. Adagio - The Voice of Violence
#5. Merry & Pippin - "Vassals Insincere" (OS mp3)
#6. Stuart McArthur - "VFL, I gave you all the best years of my life"
#7. Paul Robinson - "Voyage Of The darned"
#8. Jared - "Valerie (Song To An Android)"

Phil, not that it makes a "darned" bit of difference, but it looks like you posted my title as "Voyage of the DARNED" it should be "Voyage of the DAMNED"...although it could just be my damned old eyes not being able to tell the difference...
Thanks,
Paul R.

Sorry, Paul -that's the messageboard mangling (I can't spell these wrong, they're all copied & pasted, though I'm aiming to automate the whole process: write something that takes the URL and returns a formatted entry line. Shouldn't take too long). Whenever you write "dam_ned", it changes it to "darned". Must be trying to save our souls.

Jeez, I almost forgot about the deadline on this. Well, a lot of good stuff for a short field but I've found three that really stand out to me. And for once I really didn't have a hard time picking my first place choice, Phil's superb Staph. et al., infection piece.
1st place: #3. Phil Alexander - "Venereal Crabsody"
2nd place: #4. Adagio - "The Voice of Violence"
3rd place #2 Johnny D - "Vicodin's The Feeling I Adore"
I thought everything in this round was at least an excellent read, although I did not know the OS a couple of times.
OH...and thanks to Phil again for taking the reins on so many of these contests...I'd call it a thankless job, but that's not true, as I have been thanked and lauded on a number of occasions for running them and I'm sure Phil has, too (I hope). While I can tell you all it's not a Herculean task it does require a bit more effort than you might think if you haven't had the experience.

3 points: #7 Paul's dam-ned voyage
2 points: #4. Adagio - The Voice of Violence
1 point: #8. Jared's android - I guess whether it's worth 30 grand depends on exactly what functionality they've built in ;)
