Subject: ABCs Round R voting thread
Written By: The Invincible on 09/06/04 at 10:18 pm
Okay, this is my first time doing one of these, so its probalby a defenite that Ill make a few erors. But enough of that, and on to the entries. I assume that most of you have entered this contest before, but just for a quick refesher course I'll go over the rules:
I'll post a bunch of parodies on this page that start with the letter R.
Everyone who entered into the contest is obligated to place a post in this thread telling me who's parody he or she thinks is best. It is also encouraged that the contestants vote and leave a comment on each parody.
Anyone not entered in this contest may still vote if they were entered in a previous ABCs contest.
Any of the parodies are open for voting, except for the one you wrote yourself. After all, where would the fun be if we all voted for our own parody?
In accordance with the penalty carried over from the P round, agrimorfee will start one vote behind the other contestants. I'll let whoever's doing the S or T round decide what the penalty is for not voting in this round.
And now here are the entries for AmIRight's ABCs of Parodies: Round "R".
I tested all the links and they seem to be working okay. Let me know if you run into to any errors, and I will tell you "I'm not sure if I can help you. Computers aren't really my thing."

Thanks to adagio for bringing to my attention an error on this page. I used the number 12 twice.
This has been remedied.
Oh, and one more thing. The deadline for voting is set at Tuesday, September 14, at 8 pm EASTERN TIME

Invincible, I appreciate very much the fact that we have whatever music the author provided in the links (even Johnny's j/k ;) ). It will at least help me a whole lot. :)

Okay then, I'll tell you what. I've decided that everyone should follow Luke's example and vote on their top three parodies SOTM-style. For those who don't know, each of you will choose your top three parodies, 1st gets 3 pts., 2nd gets 2 pts., and 3rd gets 1 pt.

Hey, why not? Shake things up a little to make it more interesting. Good thinking, it's not as though any of this stuff has been carved in stone or passed done from Mt. Sinai...

Well, another real tough round to make final selections in. I'm gonna go with:
1st place: #3 Mer & Pip's "Royal People Who Died" 3 points
2nd place: #6 Adagio's "Rich & Sweet Woman" 2 points
3rd place: #9 Jake's "R-E-S-T-I-V-E" 1 point
It was all very close, well over half the entries merited strong consideration for FIRST place in my opinion.

I'd just like to apologise to all contestants for not finding enough time to read through all the parodies - it wouldn't be fair to be voting now, and although there's a couple of days left, I'm going to be net connection free till Wednesday at the earliest. Sorry :(

Well, it was exceptionally easy deciding on the top three, as these three songs reached out, grabbed me and told me to vote for them:
Rick Duncan's Red Rubber Doll
Johnny D's Rocket Spam
Merry and Pippin's Royal People Who Died
However, picking among these three who got 1st, 2nd or 3rd was such a challenge that I pretty much just doled them out at random. So...
1st: Red Rubber Doll
2nd: Royal People Who Died
3rd: Rocket Spam
But I'd be happy giving them all 1st.

Thank God we get to pick three.
Three points to Phil (#7).
Two points to Merry and Pippin (#3).
One point to Martha (#10).
Well done all.

Just posting in to remind everyone that the deadline for voting is later tonight. After a delicate and intricate recount, the voting stands thusly:
Merry & Pippin in 1st with 12 points
Rick D in 2nd with 10 points
And Johnny in 3rd with 9 points
There are still some people who have to vote. I'm aware of the situation with Merry so I'm excusing him. And Phil A. seems to have a good excuse so he's okay. And Luke's having some kind of hissyfit in regards to his good friend Emi, so I'm acknowledging his painful cries and excusing her from voting. Sorry if I sounded too cold-blooded just now. That just leaves, let's see:
J Reuben and BLO-TOWN. Does anyone know where these guys could be?

Eh, I'm going to allow it, Phil. You're vote counts, but I have to announce that as of this point, the polls are closed. The deadline for this contest dragged on much longer than I planned, but now it's done. After a second recount I have come up with the final tally. Here it is:
First Place: "(Royal) People Who Died" by Merry & Pippin
Second Place: "Red Rubber Doll" by Rick D
Third Place: "Rocket Spam" by Johnny D
I wish to offer my thanks and congratulations to all the contestants in this episode of ABCs of Parodies. All participants will receive a copy of our home game. And congratulations to our winners especially, who I understand are to receive a shiny gold medal for their excellence in the field of parody.
Also, the one called BLO has neglected to vote in this round. He has one week to deliver a decent excuse or a penalty will be enforced in the "T" Round.

I humbly accept this honor on behalf of myself, and Merry, who is still on holidays.
This will be a nice surprise when Merry gets back, especially as I recall encouraging "Mystery Hobbit # 1" to abandon another R song in favor of this one for the voting thread! ;D
Thank you for this award and for the above comments of support :)

Thanks very much to everybody who entered and voted in Round R ... and of course, my extra-special thanks and gratitude go out to those of you who liked "Rocket Spam" enough to toss some votes its way --- thank you all!
