Subject: Please help me correct these Original Song lyrics
Written By: K1chyd on 01/23/21 at 10:34 am
It's not often these days that one can't find anywhere online the lyrics to an original song, but I'm striking out on this one called either "Always on her mind" (as in the youtube link I'm about to give) or "How can I forget her when I'm always on her mind" (which seems to me it should be the appropriate name for a country song such as this one) by artist Don Gammie. Anyway, it's one of those rare new OSs (assuming it's not a cover) that immediately gives an old parody coot like me a whole bunch of parody ideas, so I've tried to write down the original lyrics myself, failing right of the bat at words number two and three (and a few others).
Can you help me fill in the blanks (and correct possible errors where I might have gotten it wrong otherwise)?
Here's the youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2mVccmGGaY
No, it's not GGAY or rickrolling or something :o, but as you're bound to notice in the link above let's just get that out of the conversation!
I /....../ /....../ at Jimmy's Roadhouse three miles south on Fourtynine
For /....../ /....../ nights six nights a week from ten to closing time
I see old friends of her, I tell them I'm doing fine
They say she asks about me all the time
She asks about me and they say it worries her half to death
They'll find me in-and-out face down with the whiskey on my breath
She left a long time ago it's a-cruel and so unkind
How can I forget her when I'm always on her mind
Friday night the room gets full and the crowd is wild and loud
We play that old country rock and roll that would make /....../ /....../ proud
There's a table in the backroom, we used to sit there between sets
It's cold and dark and empty now but I still can't forget
She asks about me and they say it worries her half to death
They'll find me in-and-out face down with the whiskey on my breath
She left a long time ago it's a-cruel and so unkind
How can I forget her when I'm always on her mind
She asks about me and they say it worries her half to death
They'll find me in-and-out face down with the whiskey on my breath
She left a long time ago it's a-cruel and so unkind
How can I forget her when I'm always on her mind
She left a long time ago it's a-cruel and so unkind
How can I forget her when I'm always on her mind
How can I forget her when I know
She still cares
She still cares

I think the first bit is
I still get to Jimmy’s Roadhouse...
And then
For six-a nights, six nights a week
In the second verse it sounds like Bo (or Beau) Seavis. No clue who that is and I can’t find any country singer that looks like it might be the right name.
There is a song lyrics section elsewhere on these boards that might be a better place to post. I don’t know if every reads this section.

What's a "six-a night"?

The six-a bit is like further down when he sings a-cruel. Just country style singing. Then I think he is just repeating the number six for emphasis. Basically saying he is there a lot of the time.
