On Friday July 20th 2018 there will be a parody from me on the front page of Amiright.

It will be based on:

As this week's One Week Notice host I'm now inviting you (Yes, that means YOU!) to write one too, then post it for the same day. The original song's lyrics follows below the mandatory fine print about these One Week Notices.

THE FINE PRINT: The core of One Week Notice is this: We all write parodies of the same original song - and then we post them on the same day! The song chosen ideally should be one that has not been already parodied on Amiright, and should also be of reasonable difficulty and length (Matthias is hosting a separate thread for general discussion about that part, see the messageboard and feel free to join in - or even better - sign up to host a round yourself!)

As things have evolved we're working on a From Friday To Friday basis. The host picks an original song and posts about it in a new messageboard thread on the first friday (or after the Thursday update on Amiright's front page if that's more convenient) and those who want to participate have one week to create a parody of it. All those parodies of the same song are then submitted to go on the next week's Friday's publishing date on Amiright (barring acts of God/Site Mods).

This challenge is not a contest judging for quality. No points are awarded. Constructive criticism is encouraged, but we have no strict rule or requirement for everyone to even read each parody and/or leave comments. Obviously that's an important part of the whole thing, but you won't get bashed if life gets in your way. The whole thing is done in the spirit of flexing our parody writing "muscles" and to grow back the spirit of camaraderie within the Amiright community. The host of a round must provide a link to the original song's lyrics (or post them in his/her host post, like I'm doing here below), a link to a YouTube video of the song (or an equivalent thereof) and information about what year the song was first released (to allow for the submission form on Amiright).

Magnum is/was a British prog rock band that were big in Europe in the 90s, fav band of one of my brother's friends and we got all their stuff on cassettes from him. Those spoken parts in this one I haven't identified, so feel free to enlighten us if you do. I'm guessing television sound bites, but I'm not all sure, could be made up specifically for the song too, though a bit blurry for that IMHO (that's also why I haven't tried to write them out).

Agrimorfee even more so than you I'd guess. And he's normally the best of us three coming up with something for such parts. Maybe the two of you can figure out how to write those bits out for this one? I've marked the main section, but there are minor stuff going on elseplace too, hard to lay down the law on what should be in or not even where one can figure out the words. I've googled for it, but found nada. Maybe you can give their facebook site a quick glance (longshot, I know).

I have been googling for potential sound bites but no dice either. It will take some listening to figure this out (I havne't heard this yet, can't until this evening)

We haven't done this in awhile but I'm puzzled by the possibilities of this round...

Need a few ideas....

I have a couple but I'm not a fan of them

1. Blowing His Harmonica (Guy won't stop playing his harmonica and wrecking the bonfire)
2. He's Captain America (Captain America tribute)

And that's it... Need some help here....

*The original is from 1992 so you could simply try to update it a bit, make it a 2018 version.

*The original is also pretty much a list song, so a list type parody is probably the easiest: "Car-obsessed Americans", "Beer-obsessed Americans", "Trump-obsessed America", "Indie Pop Americans", "Movies 'Bout America" - You can stray pretty far with the subs for "Only In" methinks.

-Also there are three verses, so covering three separate American subjects is an alternative there.

*Somewhat reversely you can make it a list type parody where you replace "America" too: "Only In My Family" (We all have crazy relatives), "Only During Rumspringa" (The Amish on Spring Break type thing), "Out there in the Universe" (Sci-Fi of some sort).

Added: Combining some of those ideas with the out-of-season Holiday parody you could do a wacky "Christmas In My Family" with the spoken parts made drunken ramblings by some crazy uncle.

Me? I've done a simple food-list parody.

Stuck up prunes is a thing in smurf porn? Surely that would be enough to rile Greg/Rob even in a song about ordinary smurfing. Not that it takes much to energize the obstipating gerbil he's got smurfed up there somewhere on an ordinary day.
