looking through their submissions, it doesn't appear they do anything with the lyrics aside from change a couple words.

I think so. I've come across his parodies and they're at least 90% verbatim from the OSes.

Most of the time what I bothered to read of his was very weird ramblings a la Tokusu Sentai Blessranger. From what you folks have been seeing, perhaps they have decided they can get away with doing more with less. ;) One less bad egg out of this carton would not hurt, I'd say.
