Subject: ONE WEEK NOTICE: "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" (For January 12th 2018)
Written By: Matthias on 01/04/18 at 9:06 am
Welcome to the January 5th to January 12th (publishing date) round of the One Week Notice challenge. My name is Matthias, I'll be your host for this round!
The core of One Week Notice is this: We all write parodies of the same original song - and then we post them on the same day! The song chosen ideally should be one that has not been already parodied on Amiright, and should also be of reasonable difficulty and length (Matthias is hosting a separate thread for general discussion about that part, see the messageboard and feel free to join in - or even better - sign up to host a round yourself!)
http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?topic=56105.0
As things have evolved we're working on a From Friday To Friday basis. The host picks an original song and posts about it in a new messageboard thread on the first friday (or after the Thursday update on Amiright's front page if that's more convenient) and those who want to participate have one week to create a parody of it. All those parodies of the same song are then submitted to go on the next week's Friday's publishing date on Amiright (barring acts of God/Site Mods).
This challenge is not a contest judging for quality. No points are awarded. Constructive criticism is encouraged, but we have no strict rule or requirement for everyone to even read each parody and/or leave comments. Obviously that's an important part of the whole thing, but you won't get bashed if life gets in your way. The whole thing is done in the spirit of flexing our parody writing "muscles" and to grow back the spirit of camaraderie within the Amiright community. The host of a round must provide a link to the original song's lyrics (or post them in his/her host post, like I'm doing here below), a link to a YouTube video of the song (or an equivalent thereof) and information about what year the song was first released (to allow for the submission form on Amiright).
This week we're going to check out a genre that hasn't really been touched upon in the One Week Notice challenge: Country music!
Deadline - January 12th, 2018

Hey girl. Go on now.
You know you've got everybody looking.
Got a little boom in my big truck
Gonna open up the doors and turn it up
Gonna stomp my boots in the Georgia mud
Gonna watch you make me fall in love
Get up on the hood of my daddy's tractor
Up on the tool box, it don't matter
Down on the tailgate, girl I can't wait
To watch you do your thing
Shake it for the young bucks sittin' in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin' 'til the break of dawn
For the DJ spinnin' that country song
Come on, come on, come on
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimming down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl, aww
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Somebody's sweet little farmer's child,
That got it in her blood to get a little wild
Pony tail and a pretty smile,
Rope me in from a country mile
So come on over here and get in my arms
Spin me around this big ole barn
Tangle me up like grandma's yarn, yeah, yeah, yeah
Shake it for the young bucks sittin' in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin' 'til the break of dawn
For the DJ spinnin' that country song
Come on, come on, come on
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimming down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl, aww
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Guitar!
Now dance like a dandelion
In the wind on the hill underneath the pines, yeah
Move like the river flows
Feel the kick drum down deep in your toes
All I wanna do is get to holdin' you and get to knowin' you
And get to showin' you and get to lovin' you 'fore the night is through
Baby you know what to do
Shake it for the young bucks sittin' in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin' 'til the break of dawn
For the DJ spinnin' that country song
Come on, come on, come on
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimming down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl, aww
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Oh, country girl
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me girl,
Shake it for me girl, shake it for me

Yeah, we might have to stick with that, or change it radically since it's used to rhyme with itself.
Brainstorming phase:
"Swedish girls (Do it for me)"
"Klingon girls" (Beatin' up me)"
"Clumsy girl (Fell down a tree)"
"Handsy girls (Grab at my meat)"
"Country nerd (Knows all the trees)"
"Time to hurl (Hold this beer please)"

Country Nerd is a really funny idea... A NERDY redneck who doesn’t really fit in with his brothers. I think I’m going to work with that idea

For the record, I'll be in, started working on one of those above, switched, switched again to something completely different - and suddenly it just worked out. I'll keep the title to myself for now though. :)

Went with that Country Nerd idea and turned it into a song about Dungeons and Dragons
(Nerdy Girl (Play D&D)) is coming out on Friday!

Boo!
You could always write one and submit it for next week. I want to see what your idea for this will be

these newer songs don't seem to make sense to me so I don't get ideas to write parodies with them. Maybe something with a milkshake. Need to look up what a red neck is again. Need to make sure I can still recall all my food prep info so I'll have a job for at least a while. Ann, do some food parodies.

Just submitted "Stripper "girl" (get offa stage!)"
This was probably the hardest song to work with in all of One Week Notice so far - but luckily the words "eighty" and "shake" (from the eighty plus uses of the latter in the original) gave me the above idea. I'm kinda borrowing it from MooRocca (autocorrected name, used to be M-e-l-h-i), who once won the SOTM with a similar parody about an old lady pole-dancing. Not that others can't have done similar parodies too already, but that's the one that comes to mind for me and hence I'm giving it credit, should she ever see this.

I did something similar in the past: "We're Not Getting Naked" to "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister
I know that Spaff.com did one too "Hey Old Stripper" to "Hey Soul Sister" by Train
Excited to see how your's turns out!
It's interesting to see how difficult these original songs are to work with. I thought that this one was going to be easier than the original tune I submitted which was Blake Shelton's "Boys 'Round Here"
I wonder if that one would have been any easier. I changed it because I thought that this one was going to be easier to be honest lol
