Subject: ONE WEEK NOTICE "J Jump" for Nov 20th Publshing Date
Written By: agrimorfee on 10/12/17 at 12:55 pm
Greetings Parody Authors, welcome to the One Week Notice Challenge. (or OWN--not the Oprah Winfrey Network! :o)
The purpose of the challenge is that one song is posted in the One Week Notice thread on Friday, and you are to create a parody of it by next Friday's publishing date (barring acts of God/Chucky G). This challenge is not a contest judging for quality. No points are awarded, constructive criticism is encouraged but there is no requirement to read each parody and/or leave comments. This is done in the spirit of flexing our parody writing "muscles" and to grow a spirit of camaraderie within the Amiright community.
The song chosen ideally should be one that has NOT been already parodied on Amiright, and should also be of reasonable difficulty and length. The host of the parody must provide a link to the OS (original song) lyrics and a link to a YouTube performance video--even better, posting the lyrics in the dedicated thread. Please also include the year the song was first released to allow for the submission form.
The next One Week Notice song for publish date of 10/20/17 is.....
"J Jump"
Artist: Joe Raposo
Decade written: 1970s
Original song heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OUiBy8uhSc
If video is blocked in your country, try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDgJbb7PuYQ (TV version) or (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eGReSvZMLs) (LP version, but ignore Big Bird for 1:00)
This jaunty little number is from Sesame Street. They say that brevity is the soul of wit. This song is just over a minute long, so there should be much brevity, indeed. Put your rhyming skills to use! Good luck.
J jump joyful jumble around.
Juniper, Jan, Jane, John.
J jump joyful jumble around.
Jack-in-the-box jumping all over town!
Jingle jangle junk summer day.
Big J swingin', flyin' singin'--
J jump joyful jumble around,
On a just nice day with the jumpinest J's in town.
Jingle jangle junk summer day
Big J swingin', flyin' singin'--
J jump joyful jumble around.
On a just nice day with the jumpinest J's in town.

There are no kids rambling on this one, hence my question.

Few ideas....
1. Bae's Bumps (99 words for boobs)
2. Gray Grumps (Old geezers)
3. Tame Trump (Please somebody tame this man!)
4. Hay Hump (Roll in dee hay, Roll in dee hay!)
5. Dame's Dumped (Annoying girlfriend)
I wanna to keep the alliteration... I'm a big fan of alliteration...
If not you can do...
1. "Clay Lump" (Sculptor fails at getting inspiration)
2. "Makeup" (Woman wears too much makeup)
3. "Made-Up" (Guy doesn't believe a thing his friend says)
4. "Breakup" (Breakups can be hard to go through but maybe we can make it fun)
5. "Stay Up" (Staying up to keep studying for finals or because Freddy Kreuger is out to get you)
6. "Laid Up" (Guy is in a whole lot of pain and on a hospital bed)

Seems to be the same song. The one that Agrimorfee linked to was one from a record album

That is the same song, it's the TV version actually sung by the artist I listed! But if you want to hear the kids (who are actually quite adorable--their laughter is infectious), try this one, it's fronted by Big Bird reading a poem for the first minute, then goes into the song.

I think I'm gonna do "Blame Trump" but instead of doing it about rational things that he's doing bad/ wrong I'm going to do it about completely crazy and off the wall things that Trump couldn't possibly control. Spilled coffee? Blame Trump. Ripped your pants? Blame Trump. Another stinking Transformers movie coming out? Blame Trump... Stay tuned!

Alliteration is funny, I'll probably start that way to see what happens. Spinning on the word "jump" gives lotsa ideas too.
Punk
Junk
Pump
Stun
Drunk
Dunk
Dump
Mumps
Lunch
Lump
Pump
Thumb

It's a super short and easy song you might still be able to get it done tonight. Took me all of 10 minutes... Most of the time was spent coming up with the idea.

This is probably another reason why a host benefits from having his/her parody pre-written when launching the invitation. Familiarity with the OS might otherwise create a false sense of security; "I'll be able to get this done in time" - while anyone else has to get started right away working on that part too. :(
