Subject: Parody Classification by topic?
Written By: EthanM on 06/06/08 at 12:02 am
I know that trying to do anything for this with amiright's massive backlog would be impossible, but I think that it would be helpful to site visitors if the parody submission form was edited to include a drop-down menu with common parody themes that the author could select if the parody fits one of those themes and then visitors looking for a parody about a certain subject would be able to find it more easily. Thoughts?

The only problems I can see with that:
Authors abusing the category choice by purposely choosing the wrong one in the belief they can increase views/comments/votes, or just to be sarcastic.
Pointless commentary debating the "correct" placement of parody topic, or unfair voting for the same (just like "wrong decade", or "wrong artist" seems to be a pissy thing with people)
However, I've always championed a separate section for Christmas/Holiday Songs, regardless of the decade the OS was written or who performed it.

I have this over at badave, one thing I will say is I notice when I release a new parody under any given topic, other parodies under said topic also get a boost--which is good, but I have to agree that doing it to the backlog would be pretty well impossible. We can deal with the pissy people (I don't really understand their problem to be honest with you, the voting down because of decades is really lame)
