A little springtime question here folks. We call these spring flowers tussilago over here, but apparently that word is also part of their latin name. What do you call them? Tussilago? Coltsfoot? Something else? (And in order to keep this thread parody related I promise to try to somehow work the term into at least one of my upcoming parodies). // Peter

wikipedia has a mere stub on tussilago, but a full entry on coltsfoot...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coltsfoot
So I guess that's what they are called everywhere, but my non-botanist's eye first thought they were
dandelions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dandelion)

Perhaps you can incorporate my confusion into a parody idea?...

Looks like Agrimorfee found the dandiloins I see in the frount yard. The petals and stem are very different between the two pictures. Hold on I'll be back.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Tussilago Aster family no suprise there.
Dandlion ( I called it a pee flower as a kid) for agrimorfees picture Aster for K1chyd's picture.

IIRC the French for dandelion is "piss-en-lit", because of the plant's diuretic properties (which is rather ironic as our name "dandelion" comes from the French for "lion's teeth")
But although it's similar, the pic at the top isn't a dandelion.

Coltsfoots and Wood Anemones will have to sitt back for a few more days, but thanks to the replies on this thread I came up with working dandelions into the intro of my latest parody. If anyone's interrested it's here:
