Subject: Background Tracks
Written By: skittlesking on 01/07/07 at 1:06 pm
Guys and Gals, I've decided to re-record all of my old parodies, and have 18 new ones in the works. . .I found a new editing software that allows me to remove vocal lines and backing vocals which tend to make midis sound like, well, midis. . .it is making a world of difference in sound quality, at this time I have NOT begun re-recording, I will start tonight with my lowest quality songs, the ones that are struggling for a test run. Additionally I will start a site that is specifically for recordings of parodies to help with exposure and to where we don't have to compete on Soundclick with a bunch of Prank Calls and Skits or Garageband with Regular Hit Music. . .the site isn't finalized yet and I will be posting any song I do on the site here because I kind of view AmIRight as the leader of Parody Websites--no other site is quite as dedicated to the subject, so it may be a little bit longer to get to the site done as oppossed to the background tracks. . . .I will post the songs here as I do them. Thanks everyone, I appreciate this website and it's members more than I think any of you know, I had given up on parodies before realizing the size and dedication of AmIRight's members to the genre. . .it makes me proud to be a parodist and makes me wonder if perhaps "Below Average" should be changed as afterall, you guys have made me feel anything but Below Average, thanks again-
Sincerely,
"Below Average" Dave

As promised, I started tonight by redoing Pizza Night. The lyrics have not changed, but it's at a volume that doesn't require you turning up your computer to hear it and with a lot of the midi-vocals removed. . .to hear it please check out

This song has been posted here in the Lyric Section, and also it should be appearing shortly under Recordings as well. I forgot to mention in the initial post, as I'm doing this, naturally I'm creating backing tracks. If anyone would like to make use of a particular track I post here (backing track), let me know and I'll be happy to send it to you, and even provide backing vocals or lead vocals whenever needed. . .
Thanks,
Below Average Dave

Ok, day two of re-recording the 24 parodies, with two down yesterday, I figured two more today. . .and walla.
These two were among the worst quality when I first recorded them, and the improvements are staggering.
Vampire's Theme located at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4730041 was initially a case of me competing with annoying midi vocals, now that I could remove those, I didn't have to compete which improved my breathing throughout the song so that I didn't have to get louder to overcompensate for the original song's vocal line.
The Meat Song located at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4724919 is another case of annoying vocal lines being removed, also some noticeable losses of breath and a drop of the microphone were removed this time. I actually changed this one quite a bit, it is one of the one's that needed to be re-done the most. . .I will continue this project tomorrow, until then 4 songs down, 20 to go

Well, Psychology (Hey Jealousy) is done, I hope to have most the others done soon too. . .I'm playing catch up for the past few days, went through major depressive moment last night, and hurt my vocal cords a couple night ago, had to let them recover (as those of you who have listened have commented--I do sing) --I apologize, not that I'm getting responses here, but my listens are doing ok, so I know that somebody is reading this, and I thank you. I also know that I have a small but growing fan base here, and even though I realize that I am not getting a lot of responses, those who do read this probably want to know when the rest of my songs will be done. . .expect more tonight.

Alright, got two more done, and I started falling asleep interestingly enough during "Don't Sleep", so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to plug away at the remaining twelve. I forgot to mention in message one that Rainbow was done as a test run prior to any of this and that the non-parodies (Do You Hear What I Hear, Tropical Tragedy, Technological Life) and ones not yet released on AmIRight are not being included.
Two more right now though

Don't Sleep

***Washer/Dryer sounds gone, No more power notes that cause sound disturbance
The remaining 12 songs are not in any particular order, but they include The Shaving Song, Tearin' Out My Heart, I'm Fake, No Hos, South Park, Jock Itch, Crazy for Chips, Every Call I Make, He Likes Guys, Wind Beneath My Butt, Chubilicious and Lazy. . .the reason those twelve are last is because they are still challenging for chart positions right now, and replacing them at this time could remove them accidentally while they can get in for the night, I have to be sure they aren't currently in a chart before I update, plus my voice is worn out after doing all these songs tonight, till tomorrow, asta lavista. . .baby

The Shaving Song, Tearin' Out My Heart & I'm Fake are all finished leaving just the 9 songs which are still daily pushing for chart positions. . .
Tearin' Out My Heart
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4732541
Probably the song least in need of a face lift of these three
The Shaving Song
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4722441
The one that needed it the most, no more cracking vocals, forgotten lines, or parts where I seemed uninterested in quality
I'm Fake
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4733480
The Whoopi Cushion supporting vocal sound, possibly the most annoying midi sound I've EVER heard, which is saying a lot for those of you who listen to midis, is GONE!!!

Three more are done, that only leaves the 6 that are fighting in the Soundclick Comedy Charts. . .these three kinda are too, but they were bubble songs that were safely runner-ups for awhile, so I felt comfortable taking them down for one day to redo them. . .
No Hos has been re-done, which is good because dropping a microphone in the middle of recording was a rather noticeable OOPS in the original recording.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4733607
South Park was next, the main thing being the vocal pianos (which actually sounded smoother than the Aqua voices in the original) are gone. Also the last line was done correctly this time.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4802827
Finally, I did the best out-the-gate performer, Jock Itch again. . .this time without an imitation Britney vocal paino and without the major interference caused by my roomate taking a shower in the background.

I've been inspired to start recording again. I had deleted my soundclick files, and those will probably never be online again, but I'm going to make new ones. This time I'm using a pseudonym - Vocally Challenged. I'm surprised that it wasn't taken already.

Well, if there's anything I can do to help let me know. . . I want as many parodies by as many artists as possible to dominate the comedy charts on Soundclick.com, Ann Hammond and I have been talking, she may start recording soon too, and Cat is looking for ways to get in. . .if there is anything I can do let me know!

I'll let you know when my page gets approved and my recordings are chart eligible. We shouldn't click & listen to each other's songs repeatedly simply for chart reasons, but at least one listen per song shouldn't be too much to ask. Maybe there should be a place listing links to the music pages of this site's members.

I've been approved, so I'm listing my member page here. I'm not putting it up on the amiright home page because the commenters there were vicious last time I tried posting there.

Hey Ethan, What I can do is make an AM I Right Station on Soundclick, we can simply listen to that station daily, put a limit of say 5 songs per artist, and let people change which 5 songs by posting here or emailing me. . .then if each of us on the station listen to the station once a day, we'd help get our top performers in the charts, without over-doing it or messing with our listen count.

Built!! Now we just have to get the other Soundclick.com AmIRight artists to participate, I should probably build another thread. . .If we can get each artist who has recorded their music to pick up to 5 songs, let me know the five (they can change them any time) and then listen to the channel just once a day (I'll do it on shuffle), we'd help get all songs on the station up. We would also know if people are participating because at a minimum each song listed should get the number of listens that are part of the station. I think most people who participate will listen anyway, because it will help everyone that is a part of it, and if people just join it and don't participate then the station won't serve it's purpose, which is the reason they would join. . .should I make a new thread about this, or do you think people will find it here.

Alright, got yesterdays stats, and the two chart toppers for the day were Chubilicious and He Likes Guys, which means the other four remaining songs were open for their face lifts. . .
First, Every Call I Make didn't really need to be re-recorded, it was good the first time around and so it is the only parody that didn't and won't be re-done, I did add the lyrics to it's personal page, but because it hasn't changed, knocked it out obviously first
Ok, Crazy for Chips was a song that desperately needed a make over, the loud piano vocals that dominated my own voice (Especially in the rap part) ARE GONE, this song is one of the better ones now, and you can hear my lyrics clearly now.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4784909
Lazy, well, the song may have sounded like a lazy recording job at first, but I cleaned it up. . .no more Britney fighting me with a piano vocal line. . .
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4733516
Finally, it may be my least classy song, and some here may have a problem with Toilet Humor (OK I admit, it was AN EASY WRITE), but c'mon as long as I'm not obsessed with the topic, what's a little Toilet Humor now and then--afterall it is the oldest form of comedy. . .Wind Beneath My Butt
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=633166&songID=4733520
Chubilcious is fighting to get into the top 50 on the Comedy Charts, and is in the top 40 on the General Comedy Charts, obviously I did not want to de-throne it manually. Eventually another song will replace it, when that happens I will redo Chubilicious as I know it has some noticeable issues, like the vocal lines and perhaps more noticeably mic movements
He Likes Guys is the only other one that hasn't been redone, but it currently sits in the top 100 Adult Comedy Chart on Soundclick, only No Hos is also listed as Adult Comedy, although the next set P3 may change that. . .however until either No Hos tops He Likes Guys OR a new one comes along to dethrone it, He Likes Guys has to wait as well.
Dethrowning a song takes it off the charts, and your second best performer does not replace it that day, you just don't get a song in the charts. . .which last time I did that (I uploaded Pizza Night as The Meat Song, and The Meat Song turned out to be the chartter for that day) my listens slipped almost 70%. . .although of late, more of my hits are coming from here and other sites I'm on than from the charts, it's still a significant source of listens/downloads. . .don't want to mess with ranking songs. . .which is why it's good that Crazy for Chips and Wind Beneath My Butt took a break from the charts, I didn't think I'd ever get those two done, but alas, two remain. . .I wonder what songs will beat them out so that I can record them again. . .a matter of time, good thing they were both among my better songs from the original recordings.

My recording from yesterday debuted at #363, which isn't great but it is still very early. I think that I hit #4 on the general comedy charts a couple of years ago, before I deleted my "band" due to generally poor quality.
