Subject: Running with music - I'm getting credited for an iPod Mix
Written By: K1chyd on 10/27/06 at 4:48 am
As far as related to parody writing I'm going out on a limb here but there's a list of 200 favorite songs of mine to follow so if nothing else it might be interpreted as a warning ;) of songs I may parody one day since a lot of my ideas have emerged while jogging. As some of you may know I'm a big fan of running with music. I spent part of the late summer writing about it for a Swedish online runners community (that was my special writing project this year and one of several time consuming reasons why my posting pace here has dropped). Originally I had plans to translate the whole thing to English and post it on the forum here too but there hasn't been time, maybe I'll let that be my special writing project next year.
: Anyway, through a number of turns I won't go into here I got in touch with an American who's as devoted to running with music as I am. His taste ranges from jazz to mainstream and my from mainstream to heavy metal so together we're covering pretty much all genres. He's retired and running a site promoting running with music on a different level than me, probably with the help of his son who's a techie at Mac if I've understood correctly. We've been picking up music from each other and now he's made an iPod mix from some songs on my list. It's not named after me but I'm getting semicredit in the intro.
I know some of you here use iPod so I though I'd give this mix and his site a plug, it's called www.jogtunes.com and I think it could grow to be a great site for people interested in music suited for running. The mix semicredited to me is on this subpage: http://www.jogtunes.com/jtcplaylists.php?x=141%20and%20148&y=14
: All of us here at Amiright are on some level big collectors of music so chances are that you're familiar with some of the songs in my running music collection. I might as well give you my 200 keepers list while I'm at it. They're sorted after running speed. SPM means Steps Per Minute and refers to the pace of your feet while jogging. Not exactly the same thing as speed but you'll get it if you'll accept my (and Runners World's) claim that most jogging takes place in the interval between 140-180 SPM. And from just trying out a few songs you'll get it even if I'm not coming all clear here.
Then there's BPM and I know that you all know what that is! ;D The ideal ratio is 2:1 meaning if you wan't to go att 160 SPM you should primarily look for songs with a BMP of 80, though other ratios can be OK too.
Anyway, here's the list (some are Swedish, deal with it, I do) :P
