Just a quick question for you americans.

Do you know what a chav is?

I'm waiting for Dumb Ass Kid (Hint Hint) to get online and then I'm gonna suggest writing a parody together about chavs, but there not much point if  the majority don;t know what they are.

I've written a bit of it and it basically explains it.

I have British friends on other message boards, and they informed me about chavs.

You can always use the "Top Comments" field to explain it/something before the parody starts. As an example my recent parody "20 000 Sheep" would have made no sense at all without an introduction, yet it went on to shared victory/infamy in the numbers/symbols contest round. :P

I think our Aussie version is "bogan".

The song you end up using should have the word "have" in the title or in the chorus, methinks, for optimum "chav" word-substitution. Anyone have some titles that come to mind?

They're both hard drinking, working class and not big on cultural pursuits. Chavs would like to think of themselves as "bling" and tend to listen to hip hop, while bogans are into cars and hard rock. Chavs more closely align with American "wiggers" while bogans tend to be more redneck in their presentation

The closest both come to an American cultural stereotype would be "redneck", although rednecks tend to be rural, while chavs and bogans tend to be urban and suburban.

but never heard the word before that.
well, it sounds terrible.
where i'm from they are....
