Here's the eleventh installment of my masterpiece, Nickelodeon Idiot. This time around I'm doing "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and I'm gonna parody the video as well as the song. I'm thinking about all of the Nick stars and characters -- past and present -- fighting an epic war, just like in the video.

I can't forget Detective Dan

The innocent can never last

That's one of the few OSs from this album I know almost by heart, and it looks really good as-is. One thing that might help those not intimately familiar with Nick is a footnote on who Herb Scannell is.

A little bit more of the original's words than I would have liked.
Also, I don't like the rhyme scheme here.
As my memory rests
I can't forget Detective Dan
Wake me up when the decade ends
Try to find a rhyme for "Dan" involving memory.

I was thinking about doing a Herb Scannell footnote, and I kept thinking about how I've already referenced him a couple times by name in earlier installments. And I didn't catch the verse where I didn't change any of the lyrics. I guess I couldn't fit Detective Dan into the equation, so I changed the line altogether.

You also need to make up your mind which title this should be.... Wake Me Up In 2010, or Wake Me Up When The Decade Ends.
A revelation! (PING!) Maybe your title could even be something like "Wake Me Up When This Dumb Show Ends"---maybe your Snicky character is all grown up and is a FATHER, caring for his little child who watches the crappy new Nickelodeon programs. He sits on the couch while the kid watches "All That: The Next Generation". The battle has been lost, and he's resigned to the fact that the old days won't ever be the same, but is happy that his kid is entertained. Hope this helps!

Those revisions interfere with the pacing, I'm afriad. Here are TOS lyrics. As you can see, each line has the same number of syllables as its parody counterpart, and I think it would be to risky to infringe upon that. I'll take your Weinerville suggestion, though.
You also need to make up your mind which title this should be.... Wake Me Up In 2010, or Wake Me Up When The Decade Ends.
The official title is "Wake Me Up When the Decade Ends," but that doesn't mean I can't alternate between the two refrains. Thanks for your concern.

Great concept. :) But....
1. The parody is a dream sequence that takes place immediately after "Letter Botch."
2. Snicky is 27, single, and has no children. How do you get kids in twenty minutes? ;D
3. I am viewing All That as a whole, not just early years vs. latter years. Snicky, much like me, is reluctant to have All That cancelled just yet. Sure, he thinks the new All That is greatly inferior to the original six seasons, but still people grew up on the original All That and Snicky wants the show to continue no matter how bad it gets. He is not really holding a grudge against All That; rather, he is mourning the show's death (cancellation), which was made official just a few months ago. That also puts to death the title, "Wake Me Up When This Dumb Show Ends."
4. The "Homecoming" parody (Number 12) is supposed to have Snicky sleep until the decade ends in 2010, so I can't let too much time pass between installments.
I guess that's all I have to say. Thank you for your suggestions, though. They are greatly appreciated. :)

stop bringing back old memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes me sad, I remember Weinerville, and All That, and Alex Mac, and all those other shows. I wish I had some way to see 'em all over again.

Just submitted the final draft (which is a slight variation of the second draft). I had to change the title to "Nickelodeon Idiot 11: Wake Me Up in 2010" because "Nickelodeon Idiot 11: Wake Me Up When the Decade Ends" is waaaay too long to fit in the form box. Who wants to read a parody called "Wake Me Up When the Decade E"? ;D :D
And of course, I added the script and everything to it, and is officially approved by me for inclusion in Nickelodeon Idiot. :)
