Subject: Nick's A Sellout [She's a Rebel] rough draft.... Feedback needed
Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 03/20/06 at 5:46 pm
I've got five more after this, which really is an accomplishment. :) THis one is a parody of "She's a Rebel," and it's appropriately titled "Nick Are Sellouts." The title explains it all (no pun intended :o), so enjoy!
"Nickelodeon Idiot 08: Nick Are Sellouts"
Parody of "She's a Rebel" by Green Day
Nick are sellouts
They're insane
Who died, gave them the berth* ?
They endanger us,
Nick are sellouts
Benny Arnolds
I will drink to the clink
Of the Classics
From Universal
In Orlando
Owned by (bleeps) that they call
St. Viacom
Nick's the piece-a
de resistance,
Now they're just a parody of their former selves
Cloned by Disney
Not Walt Disney
The company that bears is name
Gonna imitate
Stupid pop stars
Emma Roberts
And Devon something
He plays Ned
On Declassified, and...
Nick's new shows are pollution
Thank God for the Rewind
Nick's turned to corporation
But Mr. Ernst was fine
Now, where's Amanda Bynes?
(Interlude)
Nick's new shows are pollution
Go back to '95
Big wigs are on vacation
Slow down the merchandise
Roll with the Nick Rewind
Nick are sellouts
They're insane
Air the worst shows on earth,
They'll endanger us,
Nick are sellouts
Sing my shanty
I will drink to the clink
Of the Classics
Nick are sellouts
They're insane
Where are shows from my youth?
Don't endanger us,
Nick are Sellouts
Benny Arnolds
I will drink to the clink
Of the Classics
Nick are sellouts, Nick are sellouts, Nick are sellouts
Don't endanger us
Nick are sellouts, Benny Arnolds, Nick are sellouts
Don't endanger us
It probably doesn't need too many revisions, if any. I like it, and I hope everyone else does, too. :) Thanks for any feedback I get for this baby.

Problem is the title "Nick are Sellouts."
Nick is a singular proper noun, so a grammatically correct title would be "Nick's A Sellout."
(the use of "They're" in referring to Nick, however, I think makes sense)

In the song, I am trying to use Nick as a plural or group of people. But I think grammar does matter, since this isn't a parody of, say, "Another Brick in the Wall" or "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" or "Ain't No Woman Like the One I Got," etc. ;D
How do you like it now?

I think it works better grammatically, but I'm gonna have to get used to singing "Nick's a Sellout" instead of "Nick Are Sellouts." ::) Let's see how this one turns out before I write a third draft/submit this draft.

"The company that bears is name"---->The company that bares its name.
I have no idea what "Benny Arnolds" means---other than that, it's good.

Benny Arnold is Benedict Arnold, since it's one syllable too many and I couldn't figure out where else I could incorporate (no pun intended) Old Benny. And thanks for correcting that lyric, but it's actualyl supposed to be, "The company that bears his name.," meaning the Walt Disney company. :)
Well, it looks like I'm done with it. Thanks, grim, for all your help. :)
