Subject: Xmas Pink Floyd The Wall parody challenge
Written By: agrimorfee on 12/08/05 at 10:24 am
Spurred by Spaff.Com's recent parody of "Another Brick In the Wall" (http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/pinkfloyd180.shtml), I believe that we all can contribute to a masterful Christmas- themed parody of the entire 'Wall' album!
**Below is a list of the remaining songs from the album. Spaff's parody takes the place of "Another Brick In the Wall Part 3" and my parody for "In the Flesh?" will be track 1. If you can keep the theme of "Mother Deckin' The Hall" throughout, that would be great...if a storyline develops out of the songs, excellent!! Volunteers can choose as many songs as they wish, and will claim them as their own on this thread. I will keep a running tally of whose song is whose on this post.
**When completed and submitted, post a link for your parodies here. The deadline for producing your parody could be tricky. I am on vacation from 12/20 to 12/26 without access to a PC, so it would be really cool if someone could take charge of refereeing and compiling the songs from that point. If not, I will take over on 12/26. If this alll comes together by 12/16, however, I will be able to submit the whole thing as an album with a nice team name ("The Crazy Diamonds" first came to my mind, but something Christmasy would be better, suggestions?).
Howzabout it gang?

I LOVE "The Crazy Diamonds" - wow!
alas, I'm driving my family thru France and Italy over the next 6 weeks or so, Agri, so I can't be a part of it, but what a great idea - good luck all :)

Matthias... You're wishing for a Pink Christmas too? I'm sure in for it, once I pirate some music off Limewire, I'm not that familier with the Wall as much as Dark Side Of The Moon

See if you can do it without hearing the music (hell, a couple some of these songs have less than 6 lines, you might be able to wing it!). The lyrics are available in the linky at the head of this thread.

I have just noticed that there are 25 songs on the Wall album. It fits well, calendar-wise, with Dec. 25th and all. Perhaps one could envision this album as a kind of misguided, anti-Christmas advent calendar, with 25 little "doors"(songs) to open up for a suprrise? :D
Just thinkin' goofy on a Friday.
I'm dropping the deadline for song selection altogether, seeing how much of a reception this is getting. :-\\

I'm thinking about "The Trial". Who could be on trial as far as Christmas is concerned, and would have possibly 3 characters testify against him/her? At first, I thought of Scrooge...Matthias has taken him for a "hey Scrooge" parody, so what can be done? ???
George Bailey? :o Burgermeister?

I'm done with "Mother", it will be called "Santa", to be seen tomorrow.
BTW Agrimorfee, ChuckyG is planning on moving servers for AmIRight this coming weekend and the parts of that site may be down for a while, which will further set behind plans to complete this album. If we don't get it done in time for this year's Christmas (which is likely at this point unless a few others step in) I guess we have next year.
I'm off for the next 2 days and might be able to do Young Lust and Comfortably Dumb in that time frame, so I'll call them for now. *If* I can get them done by tomorrow night I'll try "Run Like Hell" again.
That is all of course provided you like what I did with "Mother".

I really like the concept, Aggro, and I'm honored to have contributed to your inspiration for it. More kudos on "The Crazy Diamonds," too.
I'll see if I can knock out one of these before Christmas, but I'm not going to promise because I'm afraid of commitment.
I included a parody of "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" in my "ABitW II" parody, so check that off your list. Check it off your list TWICE (a la Santa) if Matthias has already written his version.

...
Yeah, I have my doubts there will be a completion in '05. I'll try to fill in some more, it's just that my time and inspiration are limited as well. No big whup.
If anyone has suggestions for a song idea (ie. fragments), share 'em here. If it's used, I promise to give you partial credit in the final submission.

I'm going to try "Young Lust", so mark that down for me please. Don't know if my computer will hold up long enough to get it done and in by tomorrow.
EDIT: "Young Lust" is done and in, called "Bunged Up" (Christmas Parody) and is probably as disturbed if not more so than "Christmas Undone" was.
As a bonus for you Agrimorfee, I included a rough version (in more ways than one) of the "phone call" that actually ties into the parody.

Good men, good men! 8)
Here's what is left:
Thin Ice
Brick In the Wall part 1 (probably half written with Spaff's refrain, "Mother's deckin' the hall")
Goodbye Blue Sky
Empty Spaces
Nobody Home
The Show Must Go On
In the Flesh (#2)
Outside The Wall
I will make a deadline for TODAY, at 6PM CT for any last takers. Whatever is left, I will try to crank out the rest over the weekend (I have some vague ideas for Nobody Home already in mind). Hopefully this can be thrown together as a complete album on 12/19 or 12/21 (i am on vacation on the 20th and 12/22 through Xmas day).

I have no real ideas for the rest of the album right now, but I can try Goodbye Blue Sky andEmpty Spaces perhaps as one parody submission. I won't know if it'll be good, but if nothing else I can submit something by tomorrow morning, provided my computer holds up.
So, I guess I'm saying put me down for GBS and ES.
Here's the URL of my last one:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/pinkfloyd6.shtml
PS: Any that are left after the update tomorrow that you haven't started, let me know, I'll try to work them as well. I could do ABitW 1 farily easily I suppose, though I'm not sure I can tie it in with Spaff's.
I suppose "Master of Ceremonies" is not on the LP? Doesn't matter, it's an intro anyway.

Another Brick in the Wall Pt 1 is done, called "A Mother Deckin' The Hall". I borrowed the fa la la part from Spaff, so I'll credit him with that.
Not hilarious, but it is a short song with not much to go on. Another mother/son slugout!
Oh, I am working on GBS and Empty Spaces as I type (okay, after I get done with this post).
EDIT: I will post GBS and ES Sunday or the update after ABITW and The Rambler are posted. In my experience having more than 2 parodies up per day is self-defeating comment and vote-wise.

Goodbye Blue Sky and Empty Spaces are done, titled "Drop By Tonight/Childrens' Faces" and will be one submission (to be seen on the update after next) since Empty Spaces is so short a song.
BTW, the Live version of Empty Spaces is a bit different from the LP lyrics wise and so is Goodbye Blue Sky as far as the intro and outro, so it may look a bit weird.

PS: Agrimorfee, are you going to add the URLs in place on the first post? When we get all 25, I can make the album and submit it if you want.
It's actually 26 songs, but anyway, if you could make the album once all of them are in (thanks to Johnny D's nice thread instructions), great! That will take a load off of my plate of things to do... 8)
I'm really verkempft at the effort that you (Red and Matthias) have put into getting this done. Of course, the biggest thanks go to Spaff for kicking this off. It's wonderful to have a team effort come together. This will be reflected in the conclusion to the album which also was submitted this morning.
BTW, go ahead and add both versions of Deckin' The Hall Part 1 (your and mine) to the album if you wish.
And as as the Parody Author---The Crazy Diamonds!

Note: This is not the whole album yet, we have possibly two more submissions on Tuesday to complete it for its posting on AmIRight. Plus, it's easier for me to do HTML fixes here than on a Notepad.
Intro comment: "The Crazy Diamonds" are a one time Pink Floyd Christmas album project. The 4 points of the diamond are Agrimorfee, Red Ant, Matthias and Spaff.com, aka Clarity, Color, Cut and Carat Weight. All songs are in correct order to the CDs. Enjoy. And Merry Christmas too, we guess.
