Subject: wanted: parody writer (paid gig) :)
Written By: yanik on 11/15/05 at 8:07 pm
Hey guys,
I emailed Chuck and he said to post my request. Hopefully this is the right spot
(I posted before in a wrong board - sorry)
I need someone good who can work with a flash animation
person to parody a song and come up/choregraph something like this?
http://www.msn.americangreetings.com/view.pd?i=382219626&m=1652&rr=y
You don't need to do the flash - I can find someone to do that. But I
need help with the lyrics and to work together with the flash guy.
It'll be a parody of Hard Knock Life sung by Dr. Evil and Mini Me
from the movie Austin Powers.
You can listen to part of if here -
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000068DA0/002-5855967-5246466?v=glance
Let me know if you think you can do it and your price range and how to contact you.
It'll be a work for hire but you are welcome to showcase the work somewhere
(but just not sell it again, etc)
Thanks a bunch.
-Yanik

I've been visiting amiright messageboards for over 3 years now, and I believe this is the first time anyone ever offered a paid gig. I don't want to turn something like this down, and the parody writing sounds like something i might possibly be able to do, but I don't have a clue about flash or choreography. If you still want to discuss this with me, my email is nyparodywriter@hotmail.com.

I'm interested as well, yanik. I looked at the original you wanted to use and came up with a preliminary idea or two. An opening could be:
"It's an evil life for us
It's an evil life for us
And Austin?
He'll get steamed
We'll use sharks
with laser beams"
Let me know what you think. That one's free if you choose to use it, regardless of who you get to write it for ya. Private message me if it sounds good and we'll exchange info.

I am a trained musician/lyricist with a fair amount of experience writing corporate jingles and creating other specialty work. My assignments require a minimum fee of $100, payable only upon completion to your complete satisfaction. If this is within your range, please let us know. Otherwise, good luck!

May I just say how bizarre post-modernism is:
A parody of Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem - Dr. Evil Remix)
which in turn is a parody of Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)
which is an appropriation of Annie's Hard Knock Life.
Interesting.
Here's the OS in its entirety:

Apart from being a rap-parody boffin, you'd only have to pay me in Australian dollars, a saving of 30%!

I'd be interested to see if this pans out for someone. If YOU are the one it pans out for, I look forward to hearing you brag about it. I'm not kidding.

Cool. Good job, Ethan. The next goal is to find someone who will offer a couple of jobs like that per day.
