Subject: Lord Of The Dance: A Lord Of The Rings Musical
Written By: Matthias on 10/21/05 at 2:31 pm
Lord Of The Dance: Is a musical based on the books created by JRR Tolkien. It is your duty to create a musical based around, The Fellowship of the Ring.
Here's the rules:
1) It must be from one of the Broadway Musicals located on this website: http://musicals.net/
2) Each parody must be crucial to the plot, with acurate names, timing, and so on.
3) Only One Person's Parody will be accepted for each event...
Like:
a. Bilbo's Party
b. The council meeting
c. The Balrog
ect.
The Musical's Deadline is November 20th.
Your song parodies will be accepted on Monday, October 24th.
The Two Towers and The Return of the King have been removed from this contest for the time being, but maybe entered later in another contest.
Sorry for the inconvience.

I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem, but it might be easier if we all knew exactly what events are to be included so no one writes something that can't possibly be used

Fine, then I get the gay bar Prancing Pony one.ÂÂ
But seriously, how could a place called 'The Prancing Pony' be ANYTHING but a gay bar?

I will take "The Bridge, The Balrog, and Other Things" as a parody of "The Rain, The Park, and Other Things". But I won't have time to write it in the immediate future --- might have to wait until early-to-mid November. But I'm confident I can write it before November 20th.

Ooops, no it wasn't, my mistake --- that means it doesn't qualify --- thanks for reminding me, Ethan!
Okay, Matthias, so I stand corrected --- please cancel my claim on that part of the musical. I'll see if I can come up with something else.

I'd love to be a part of it, but I know Jack Isth about Lord of the Anything, except vague familiarity with some of the names, thanks to this website.
But if you could pick me a plot development, with a vague plot outline, count me in
If you think my not knowing the characters is too big a hurdle though, I'll understand and slink away :(

Don't you mean the Gandalf/Balrog free fall clinch? I mean, even though the Balrog was the one with the whip Gandalf seriously acted like a dominatrix ("You cannot pass, I order you" etc) during foreplay, and that staff of his... if there ever was a Balrog sized dildo...
(My apologies to anyone who'll never be able to see that scene the same way again now). 8)
Additional: I just couldn't resist to expand on this horrible imagery/idea so today's parody writing has been "Free Falling (Gandalf and the Balrog)" to the tune of Tom Petty's "Free fallin'". Dependning on how long the queue is it should be up Monday or Tuesday. (You'll know I'll keep it clean enough).

Stu, you should really watch the movies they're really good. I mean winning almost every freaking Accademy Award last year they had to be, right?
But... Since you don't know the characters... I seriously think you should look into this fansite

If not that there's always...

Read up, and have fun with it.

Can I take the #9 - Ringwairth (Ringwraith, presumably) to the tune of Cabaret?
The best source for material for this kind of quest has to be The LOTR Diaries - they're excellent individually, but taken as a group they're totally hysterical (if you have an hour or two to read them all)

Are those chapter headings from the book or from the soundtrack or just general areas of the storyline?
I read the Hobbit and FOTR when I was about 8, so will rely primarily on the film for inspiration.
Anyways, I'll do 'Hark, the Ring Goes South' or something, to the tune of 'Master of the House' from Les Miserables.

I'll take the bridge & Balrog scene, and I'll see if I can come up with a parody from the rock opera "Tommy" (that was a Broadway show, wasn't it?) of "Pinball Wizard" ... something like "Big-Balled Wizard", who "Sure slays a mean Bal-rog".

OK, I just submitted the following parody for the next posting:
"Camelot" Based on the performance by Broadway Cast of 'Camelot'
"Rivendell" Parody by Johnny D
(spoken: )
It's true! It's true!
This valley that you see
Reflects The Blessed Realm across The Sea...
We Elves arrived a distant moon ago here
We'd long been searching for a place to dwell
We welcome weary travellers with good cheer
To Rivendell
Lord Elrond watched as Isildur desired
To keep the Ring that Sauron forged in hell
Elrond lost faith in Men and then retired
To Rivendell
Rivendell !
Rivendell !
To Men it seems a bit bizarre
For in Rivendell -- Rivendell --
They meet The Children of The Stars
An Elven Ring of Power is concealed here
Its hiding-place a secret none will tell
So rest here and be well
Let all your fears be quelled
By Vilya's blue sapphire's gleam
You're here
In
Ri-ven-dell !
( --- instrumental --- )
Rivendell !
Rivendell !
We know it gives a hobbit pause
For in Rivendell -- Rivendell --
Your coldest heartache thaws!
Our gentle breezes soothe your weary spirit
Our crystalline cascades resound like bells
Before you say farewell
Enjoy the blissful spell
Of Elven love and mystery
That's here
In
Ri-ven-dell !

No it dosn't matter. It's still a musical, more or less, besides I've been wanting to write one to a song from the Rocky Horror Picture Show: Council At The Rivendell Place, to Light At The Frankenstien Place. Or something to Hot Patootie. So yeah, everybody this frees up Major Modern General, I know you guys want to do one to it. You Gilbert and Sullivan fanatics.
