Subject: Voter Fraud
Written By: Dangling Chad on 02/16/05 at 10:54 pm
Chucky, please check the votes on this parody:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/nationallampoon0.shtml
It's obvious voter fraud. Virtually all of this author's other parodies also have a very inflated number of 555's.

yes it is... definitely voter fraud. I removed the duplicate votes.
if they did it on multiple ones, I'm not going to bother though, can't really see the point. They're only deluding themselves.

I wrote a script a while back to look for parodies where ridiculous numbers of self votes were launched... I went through today and knocked back some of the most egragarious offenders. I blocked one IP that seemed to turn up through almost all of them.

Chucky, check out Offender's latest comment on this: http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/nationallampoon0.shtml
That and all of his parodies have picked up a bunch of 555's since you deleted the fake votes. Suggestion: it's time to say goodbye and good riddance to Offender.

While I am certainly against voter fraud, I think your time is mostly wasted on paying attention to Offender, Chad. I mean...he clearly fakes his votes to boost his self esteem or to get attention...I woudn't humor him if I were you.

I was under the impression one could not vote repeatedly in order to artificially inflate your voting rank. That is to say, the system somehow blocked you from doing such a thing. If that is not the case, then how is the moderator able to tell the difference between real votes and duplicates?
Kim.

there is a block against it, but it's not 100% effective, there are ways around it. There's realy no 100% effective way to block voter fraud without requiring people to sign up first, which would certainly cut way down on the number of votes people received.

I haven't seen this, really. Most of the inflated votes I've seen are ridiculous amounts of negative votes on all sorts of people. What's up with that?
