Subject: Author stats

Written By: ChuckyG on 12/09/04 at 3:32 pm

I looked at the authors page today, and amongst remembering to fix the missing header, I did a little analysis

Out of the 28,000+ parodies posted, a little over 20,000 of them are posted by the 356 authors who have posted 10 or more parodies.

17,500+ were posted by authors with 25 parodies.

And congrats to Jake A Ralphing who has 500 comments on one parody as of today.  I don't think anyone else has that many on a single parody.  I figured nuero would have twice that with the amount of crap I need to delete from his Linkin Park bashing parody.

I wonder how many comments a political William Tong parody would generate?  I wonder how many I'd have to delete with cuss words in them.

Chucky, somehowthis reminds me of the "Simpsons" joke where Homer can't get his garden to grow. Marge says "Maybe you're not using enough fertilizer" Homer replies; "Marge, I'm just one man!" I guess I'm trying to say that as a whole, we're producing a lot of fertilizer.

Let me add my thanks to ChuckyG for providing this entertaining forum for all of us.

We'll never know, but I don't think the comments on his parodies would be stronger than those made on Michael Pacholek's parodies.  And, if Will didn't respond to the comments, the commenters would soon tire of making the comments.  But, I think that Will would get more votes if he enabled comments.  One reason that I almost never read or vote on Will's parodies any more is that I can't leave comments.

I'd like to second that!  Chucky, you'll never know how grateful I am to have found such a fabulous place filled with fabulous people.  Thank you SO MUCH for creating this, and letting us all come to play!

Just in case 30k votes isn't enough? ;)

But I agree that Chucky deserves all these plaudits: this place has rather become a home from home - it's a great site to hang around :D

I kind of feel like a cheat. There are some parodies with over a hundred different people commenting on them. I have less than thirty, and we just keep rambling on and talking over the top of each other. No wonder The Only Thread That Matters is such a success, it works on the same principle! :D

Good point - that is an amazing number of votes.  But I suspect that he is getting fewer votes per parody than he used to.

ChuckyG - didn't the site just pass 20K parody posts a couple months ago?  It seems like it...amazing!  Thanks again for creating and running this site...it's a great place to have...sometimes I take it for granted, but then I'll drop in on a day when you are doing maintenance or there is a server problem and I really miss it...

Well hopefully those days are behind us.  This site hasn't crashed since Friday morning.  If it makes it until next Friday without another crash, that'll be a very Christmas present indeed.  I even fixed onlyonfilm.com finally too.

Now if I only had a few more hours this weekend to finish one of the projects I needed to work on... >sigh<

It was back in March...JohnnyD wrote a parody of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" entitled "20,000 Parodies Are Posted On This Web Site" (with all the words run together).

Nallly, thanks for the info. ~ ~ ~ March, eh?  So, lets see - 28K + now - that seems like almost 1,000 a month since then!!!  Whew!  That number does compute, though, since it would be roughly 30 or so a day and that is pretty much what I have been seeing here for quite some time now...

it's actually closer to 50 most days, weekends are slower though.  At least that's what I look through (I usually don't approve at least 4 or 5 everyday).
