Subject: Educational parodies
Written By: philbo on 10/19/04 at 9:04 am
A while back I was having a conversation about educational parodies, and I said I'd written a few... turns out to be more than a few, so I thought I'd categorize:
Biology
The Genome Song (to 'The Galaxy Song' by Monty Python (The Meaning of Life))
I'm A Cuckoo (to 'Coz I Luv You' by Slade)
Coleoptera (to 'Come Together' by The Beatles)
Chemistry
Chemistry (to 'Yesterday' by The Beatles)
Element the Eighth (to 'Henry the Eighth' by Herman's Hermits)
First Row Transition Metal (to 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon and Garfunkel)
He Ain't Heavy (He is helium) (to 'He Ain't Heavy (He's My Brother)' by The Hollies)
Periodic Table: Group 7 - the Halogens (to 'Scarborough Fair' by Traditional)
Smells Like Methylated Spirit (to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana)
Physics
Brownian Motion (to 'Eleanor Rigby' by The Beatles)
Gravity (to 'Tragedy' by Bee Gees)
N-Dimensional Space (to 'Windmills of your Mind' by Dusty Springfield)
Time It Is A-Changing (to 'Times They Are A-Changing' by Bob Dylan)
English
'Postrophe (to 'Yesterday' by The Beatles)
Apostrophes contd. - A Few of the Difficult Bits (to 'A Few of my Favourite Things' by Maria (Sound of Music))
Bad Grammar (to 'Sledgehammer' by Peter Gabriel)
It's 'e.g.' (to 'Let It Be' by The Beatles)
History
Boadicea (to 'Jingle Bells' by Traditional)
Homerian Rhapsody (to 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen)
Kiss Me Hardy (to 'Kiss Me Deadly' by Lita Ford)
Shooting Tsars (to 'Shooting Star' by Bad Company)
Ecology
sheesh Power! (to 'Goldfinger' by Shirley Bassey)
I'm actually quite tempted to try recording enough of these to compile a CD: especially the science ones, there's almost enough detail for revision material, here...
Has anybody else got any they think might be useful? (I guess this is a first foray into parodies-by-subject threads, an idea that was floated a while back: if people like this concept, maybe we can talk Chucky into creating a child board for this sort of thread)

I did actually begin coding a section on the site for this. Never got around to finishing it (though I seem to think it was pretty close to done). I'm not sure why I dropped it (lack of time I bet). If I can get this site moved onto a new server soon, maybe I'll get back to it.

Well, I have several songs about subjects, but I'm not sure they're educational exactly:

Everything is educational, neminem, except for "Regis & Kelly", which makes its viewers stupider.
;D
