Subject: Getting Into Uranus
Written By: Spaff.com on 06/17/04 at 1:05 pm
In the parody comments, Ralphing Luke made the mistake of asking about Uranus. So I thought I'd put together a "Timeline: Uranus." It became more time-consuming than I'd expected; I didn't realize just how much stuff had issued forth from Uranus.
I was totally unaware of some of these - I'll have to go in and comment on the ones I missed. And this probably isn't an all-inclusive list, either; let me know what I've left out and I'll modify this post. Anyhoo...
TIMELINE: URANUS
March 1: I unwittingly post "Uranus!" - a parody of "Tomorrow" from Annie:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/anniecast0.shtml
March 24: Robert Lund pulls a recording out of "Uranus!":
http://www.spaff.com/poesy/uranus.html
And that easily could have been the end (heh heh) of "Uranus!" - butt...
April 7: Claude Prez, via A Room Full Of Monkeys, submits a parody (not of "Tomorrow," but of "Uranus!") called "Uranus Again":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/robertlund0.shtml
April 8: Rick Duncan follows suit with a parody of "Uranus Again" called, of course, "Uranus Still Yet Again":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/robertlundclaudeprez0.shtml
April 9: Laurence Dunne parodies "Uranus Still Yet Again" with the first of the I-Hate-Uranus songs, "Uranus (I'm Sick And Tired Of)":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/rickduncan0.shtml
Meanwhile, Johnny D throws open the floodgates of Uranus with, ahem, "Uranus":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/garywright8.shtml
April 10: Jan Unwin parodies "Uranus (I'm Sick And Tired Of)" with, of course, "Uranus (ReBUTTal)":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/laurencedunne0.shtml
And the thread continues in A Room Full Of Monkeys, with "Oops! Uranus Again (Again)":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/robertlund0.shtml
Meanwhile, Guy DiRito takes off on Johnny D's tangent with "Penis 'n' Uranus":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/shockingbluethefifthdimension0.shtml
April 12 brings us Johnny D's "Don't Stop (Thinking About Uranus)":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/fleetwoodmac24.shtml
as well as a plea from Panic Pagoda: "Stop the Uranus Songs!!!!":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/linkinpark170.shtml
April 14: Jared joins the resistance with "Please No More Uranus":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/twistedsister7.shtml
But resistance is futile, because:
April 15 brings us Guy DiRito's "In Uranus":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/villagepeople22.shtml
and Your Worst Nightmare's "Mianus":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/hilaryduff26.shtml
April 17: Two more! Syncronos' "Stuck in Uranus Again":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/stealerswheel0.shtml
and Jack Wilson's "Uranus (Starry Flights)":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/johntravoltaandolivianewtonjohn0.shtml
April 20: Syncronos blesses us with two more, "Smells Like Uranus":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/nirvana108.shtml
and "Pain Inside Uranus Too!":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/whitneyhouston9.shtml
May 1: Jack Wilson celebrates May Day with "Uranus is a Wonderland":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/johnmayer16.shtml
May 13: Just when you think it's safe to get back in the solar system, Royce Miller gives us "From Uranus Blues":
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/johnnycash26.shtml
As far as I can tell, that's the last thing to come out of Uranus. (But this feeling of discomfort tells me there's more stuff up there awaiting release.)

Are we heading for U235, do you think.. and will there be a critical mass of Uranus songs causing amiright to explode?

I know it got ridiculous, but what's a bandwagon for if you can't jump on it? It just proves that even when you think you've squeezed out the last drop of something, there's always more the next day.

Wow. I had no idea Uranus had been around so much. I mean, Mianus was used a little bit, but Uranus has REALLY REALLY been used a LOT. Anyway, thanks for this comprehensive guide for those who are curious about Uranus; this way no one has to be in the dar--OKAYOKAY I'LL STOP
