Subject: Parody Sequels

Written By: philbo on 05/24/04 at 11:19 am

I was just wondering - has anybody else written pairs (or more) of parodies, with a definite prequel/sequel feel?  I was looking through mine recently and spotted:

Fridge Odour Troubled Walter/I Can't Find The Freezer Anymore

Puff the Tragic Drag Act/Headlines In The Sun (the memoir of Puff the Tragic Drag Act)

Latex Toi/Lubricated

Three sets of pairs... Anyone else care to join in?

I always thought of Can Full o' Mace as sort of an answer song to Chloroform

Well, I wrote a sort-of series about getting into college... that being Signin' Up for College/One Month More (till graduation)/One Word Closer (College Essay Hell) (which, by the way, sucks, and nobody should bother reading it)

Must admit, I was thinking more along the lines of continuing the plot of a story...

Thinking about it, I did this trilogy submitted as the one song ("Another Prick in the Lords")

...and I'm getting very tempted to do a whole run through of The Wall, too.

Well, it IS a story, sorta, but you have to read the whole thing if you haven't already.  Good luck on doing the whole thing. 8)

Before Chucky asked us to refrain from naughtier themes, I was thinking about doing:  "Hot Tubbin'" to Foreigner's "Hot Blooded," "Welcome to our Jacuzzi" to "Wake Up Little Suzie" and "Thank You For Bringin' a Friend" to "Thank You For Being A Friend (aka Golden Girls theme).      I may yetl do something with the ideas.  I've started Hot Tubbin' about a dozen times and changed my mind.

Those sound like pretty tame themes, MooRocca . . . I bet you could easily render them in a form that would convey their double-entendre raciness while meeting Chucky's requirements for being sufficiently obscure to the innocently-minded.

Just a thought....  ;D

I'm going to release it as an album soon, but my 'Another Hobbit's Tale' series is a six-parody salute to LOTR. The first five deal with different events, are from varying perspectives and progress in a loosely chronological order through the LOTR books/movies. The sixth one is a finale-style sum up of the whole LOTR story, from Frodo's perspective. We hopes you enjoy the preciouses.

"Another Hobbit's Tale: by Frodo Baggins" to 'Paint it Black'
