This is my first post on the new board and it will have its place in history.

My first parody since the reformation of the forum is a hybrid of Britney Spears and Metallica (Black Album era). It's called "Enter Sandman," and is a parody of Britney's "(I Got That) Boom Boom." If you like it, I'll do more. I want to do "The Unforgiven" to "Toxic." LOL

Well, I'm breaking new ground here, I think.  I've just submitted a parody based on Love's 1960's song "A House Is Not a Motel" from their excellent "Forever Changes" LP.  My parody title is "My House Smells Like A Latrine".  I've included lyric & audio links for those who aren't familiar with the original song.  I don't know if anyone has submitted any parodies of songs by Arthur Lee's group,  I don't recall seeing any in the 6+ months I've been posting on this site.

This week the Mexican Air Force reported to the international news media that they tracked a group of UFOs over Mexico and locked onto them with radar, proving them to be real solid objects.

When I read this story, I couldn't help but think about Flaco Jimenez's and Peter Rowan's wonderful 70's tune "The Free Mexican Air Force", so I wrote a parody of it called "The Free Alien Air Force", which I just submitted for the next posting.

Part of what makes this parody so appropriate is the fact that the original song "The Free Mexican Air Force" is a humorous folk-song about marijuana smuggling, and in this real-life recent news event, the real Mexican Air Force jet that encountered the UFOs was on a routine anti-drug trafficking patrol in the skies over Mexico!

I just submitted a parody of "Starship" by the Jefferson Airplane on their special-project 1970 album "Blows Against The Empire".  My parody's title is "Spamsheesh".

The album "Blows Against The Empire" was a special project by Jefferson Airplane's Paul Kantner and Grace Slick, and it featured, in addition to Paul and Grace, other members of Jefferson Airplane, and also a number of other famous names from the psychedelic rock era of the 60's and 70's:  David Crosby, Graham Nash, Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann.

After hearing that Britney Spears's mom, Lynne, ran over a photographer's foot, I came up with his parody about the potential lawsuit tha guy might bring upon Mrs. Spears.

It's a parody of "Everytime" called "Everytime I Get My Foot Ran Over" (I was throwing around titles when I wrote it).

OOPS! Foiled by the lack of the old parody-search-function!

I just submitted, for the next posting, my new parody of "Save Me" called "Somebody Shaved Me"......and then, after submitting "Somebody Shaved Me", I found Klarissa's parody "Shave Me".

Fortunately, our two parodies are very different - Klarissa's is about somebody who is extremely hirsute and who is asking for help shaving-off all their excess body hair, whereas mine is specifically about Michael Rosenbaum losing his hair to play Lex Luthor in "Smallville".

Working on my very first American Pie parody.  To give you a hint of insight on the subject matter, well, let's just say I'm running out of possible deaths for a goldfish.

I just released a new parody on SoundClick. It's a remake of my other friend's parody. I changed a few lines here and there and, in one case, an entire verse. It's called Backwards and it's a parody of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, poking fun at the backwards Satanic message in Stairway to Heaven.

Ok, this is just like any other parody you're thinking? Wrong again! Just for fun I recorded a few subliminal messages and played them backwards in the song to give you something really to hear when you play backwards. Oh, but it doesn't stop there....

Yes, it gets better! I've encoded a special backwards message into the lyrics of one verse. That's right, I chose my lyrics carefully so that when you listen backwards it really sounds like a backwards message just like in the real song!

I can't post the lyrics to the song on AmIRight since, technically, I didn't write it, I just changed 1/4 of the lines but if you're interested I can post the lyrics here including the lyrics to the special backwards message that I encoded.

Just a few minutes ago, my wife Mary and I finished watching the DVD of "Pirates of The Carribean: The Curse of The Black Pearl".  So you're an OB fan, eh?  That movie was pretty-much a perfect vehicle for him.  He's lucky he landed that gig.  And I got a good laugh from Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp (the "other" Johnny D) telling Elizabeth that it would never have worked out between them...mm-hm.

Now, if I was put into that situation, I would probably break from Orlando Bloom (and his big, floppy hat)'s side and run after Johnny Depp, screaming, "It will too work out!  I'll make it work!"  But then...leaving the hatted one behind.  That's why I hated that movie - I couldn't ogle them both at the same time.  Oh, right, what was your question?  Well, he's not a great actor, but ain't he pretty?

I found so much of the movie to be unabashedly and hilariously romance-novel-ish ... especially the last line ... " He's a PIRATE! "  Aww, yes, he's a dashing young pirate who's comin' to steal your hearts, female (and perhaps some gay male) viewers!

But my own personal favorite parts of the movie were when every single pirate-cliche in the book was paraded across the screen!  Lots of sweaty & stanky hearties goin' "ARRRH! ARRRH!", a bad guy (Barbossa) who sounded like Long John Silver, and even a guy with a frickin' PARROT ON HIS SHOULDER!  ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  !!!!!!

And pirate cliches are so fun!  Buckled swashes, monkeys named Jack, bad pirates, BAD bad pirates, prostitutes, and treasure...whee.  And, of course, nothing beats Jack Sparrow's drunken swagger.  Savvy?

My latest parody is about the stupid lawsuit against Jibjab.com, using the tune of "This Land Is Your Land." As you all know, Jibjab did a parody of the song sung by George W. Bush and John Kerry, and are in a legal battle over it with the copyright owners of the song. It also addresses the fact that, legally, you don't need permission to do a parody of an original work (According to a 1993/4 court case).

It's gonna be huge! :D

Background regarding how this parody came about:

In April, May, and July of 2004, The Concord Players performed the musical "1776", in which I played Dr. Lyman Hall, delegate from Georgia and signer of The Declaration of Independence. Our final performance of “1776” was on July 17, 2004, in The Great Hall of Faneuil Hall in Boston, Massachusetts. This past Sunday, July 25, I portrayed Boston merchant and selectman John Andrews (who lived in Boston during the British occupation of 1774-1776) in The Concord Players’ production of “The Concord Prologue” in Depot Square in Lexington, Massachusetts. Now that I’m back in the 21st century, I have had a chance to reflect on all of my experiences re-living America’s 18th century Revolutionary history.... and I was inspired to write this parody. “Fat George” was a derogatory term that American Patriots used to refer to King George before and during the American Revolution.

I just submitted another "2 in 1" combination parody a few minutes ago.  I'm using Steely Dan's "Do It Again" for the musical structure and working with the lyrics from James Taylor's "You've Got A Friend".  The resulting parody is called "It's A Fact, Jack, You've Got A Friend".  I think you will find it interesting.

I'm back with a Triple Threat of parodies.

First, a parody that tries to serve as a pronunciation guide for Lord of the RIngs. It's called "Smells Like Lord of the Rings Pronunciations." The original song and artist should already be obvious. ;)

Next, because "Teen Spirit" would have tied "Everytime" (by Britney Spears) as the song I have parodied the most (With five parodies), and because I love "Everytime" that much, I wrote two more "Everytime" parodies. One is about a very boring day, somewhat inspired by the parody "Need Some Sleep" by Katie Hunt. I decided to hybrid Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" with Britney Spears's "Don't Go Knockin' on My Door" and created "Don't Go Knockin' on Heaven's Door". Thanks to Mason for the inspiration!

I'm surprised this hasn't been done yet. I just submitted a parody of The Doors' "Light My Fire" called "The Apprentice (You Are Fired)." I could just imagine the juxtaposition of Jim Morrision with Donald Trump.  ::)

I have done rock parodies, country, rap, pop, adult contemporary, grunge, underground metal, and a bunch of mega hits we all know by heart. But I have never done a showtune parody..... until now!

Tomorrow, look for my first-ever parody of a popular showtune. With all these "Fiddler on the Roof" parodies, I decided to do one of "Matchmaker." My parody is called "Match Gamer" in reference to the popular game show. If it's succesasful, I'll probably experiment with showtunes more.

I am trying to write and submit all these parody ideas I've been having, so I might update this post a bit as I submit more and more parodies today.

First up, another mashup of two songs that sound weird when mentioned in the same sentence. Robert Plant, Britney Spears, and Madonna go against the music to the tune of Led Zeppelin's "The Immigrant Song." They have the same key (F# Minor/A Major), and the semi-rap that goes "...I Wanna get in the zo-one..." has almost the same meter and consistency as the verses in "The Immigrant Song."

Next, Sam Gamgee sings to the tune of "MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris, about his journey to Mordor with Mr. Frodo to destroy the Ring. I call it "This Evil Ring".

They're gonna be huge! :D

What do you get when you cross Led Zeppelin with AC/DC?

I don't know either, but I thought I'd try and answer the question anyway.

My latest offering is a parody of "Stairway to Heaven" using as many AC/DC references as possible. You can call it "Stairway to Hell" or "Highway to Heaven" (Scary thought  ;D) . I simply titled it, "Stairway to AC/DC."

Just submitted a parody of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" called "Werewolves of Hanukah." Click here to see what inspired the parody. I cannot spell any Jewish words; I can't even spell Hanukkah!  :-[ Oh well, I tried.
