Congratulations to all who advanced; you may have noticed I've removed my song from the competition. This is for several very good reasons:
1. In spite of my "idiot-proof" plan to ensure no ties, somehow I screwed it up and managed to allow one tie (#6 vs. #11). This way, both can advance.
2. I've already gotten the additional exposure for my song that I wanted.
3. If I somehow managed to win the tournament I'd look like an a-hole who just devised this whole thing so he could win it. Now that can't happen and I look like this great guy and fool everybody.
Seriously, even if I win I lose and this is a great excuse to bow out (before I find out my best song can't even beat one of Spaff's "esoteric" selections) and just enjoy the rest of the tournament.
Reminder: Even if you've been eliminated YOU MUST VOTE IN EVERY ROUND. Deadline is Saturday night. Thank you.
Oh, and I've included the eliminated songs below in case you haven't given your regular vote yet.

I am slightly saddened to see "Pee Our Test" gone.

Claude, if it is not too late, you might want to reconsider.
1. I'm the person who benefited and I did not look at it as a tie. There were only supposed to be 15 votes in our bracket and when both Spaff and you voted, I expected one of the votes not to count.
2. OK
3. All of us appreciate all of the work you are doing which gets exposure to all of us and lets us have some fun. All of the votes and procedures are in the open, so there is no hint of impropriety. If you have the best parody and you win, it's because the majority of us vote for you, and I don't think anybody is going to criticize you for winning.
So, anyway, it's not that I'm ungrateful to be paired against Spaff, but please reconsider reinstating yourself.
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
Claude, sorry to see you bow out here, I loved your "Pee-rody" entry. But on the bright side this move clearly unseats me from the "best sport" position. I've already got enough issues without having to try and live up to that. Seriously, though, one can't help but be impressed by how diligent, objective and fair everyone has tried to be. I really enjoyed the voting process because it made me look at little bit deeper into all the entries, especially those that I might not ordinarilly look at because of the original song. Ok. so we have until Saturday to vote on round #2. I'll be away all day today so I'll be looking at them again on Friday, probably. later...

Thanks John. My problem is that I'm not willing to take votes away from anybody; it seems cruel. I agree with you; if I did manage to do well in the tournament that would be proof that people don't think ill of me but I'd still have mixed feelings. Anyway, what's done is done and it really is no big deal to me. I'm extremely pleased with how this whole thing has gone overall and I'm thrilled I got more exposure for my song. The bracket stands as it is so let's get voting.

This has been fun and challenging contest ;D

Ditto, Diva to Claude!
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
MATCH ONE:
8 Adagio Bad Snowman
"Blighted by the Lice" gave me bad memories of when I had lice in the seventh grade. As much as I like to rock out to Springsteen's "Born in the USA" and Manfred Mann's version of "BBTL," I had to give Adagio the props! He encouraged me to enter this competition, even though I was eliminated.
MATCH DOS:
13 wdh (3.96) That Course Killed my Game
I'm not familiar with "Suite Judy Blue Eyes", but "Horse with No Name" has had some hilarious parodies nowadays.
MATCH THREE:
11 Diva (4.28) Emoticons
http://users.cis.net/sammy/emotion.htm
Of all the Yes songs, why "All Good People"? "Roundabout" is a better Yes song. I think emoticons are cool! :) ;D
MATCH QUATRO:
2 Spaff (4.79) Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Twinkie
I think Twinkies are cool! I am still unfamiliar with the original song, but the Twinkie concept is amazing. I might even come up with a Twinkie parody soon. As Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) said in Ghostbusters, "That's a biiig Twinkie!" :D

1 vs 8: 8 (adagio). If her song can beat the Tribble song, it can beat just about anything. Congrats!
5 vs 13 5. May not have taken as much work as Michelangelo's paintings, but it still took quite a bit.
11 vs. 14 11. Cute and interesting way of altering "Emotions".
6 vs. 2 6. A budget surplus is more appetizing than a Twinkie surplus ;D

Yeah, right. You're our American Idol, Claude, and we all dodged a bullet - make that a nuclear weapon - when you withdrew your urine sample. Also, let me join the chorus of thank-yous for creating and managing this time-consuming project.
It sucks that voting for a parody in this contest makes it seem like you're voting against another one. Because none of these deserves to be voted against. But I suppose that's how single-elimination works. Sigh.
I'm gonna go with:
1. "Blinded by the Light" intimidates the hell out of me, so I gotta hand it to MAD for tackling it with such finesse.
5. An epic parody on an epic theme to an epic original. It's tough to beat that combination.
11. I gotta give the edge to Diiiva because this incorporates elements that burst the standard boundaries - it's not "just" a song parody.
2. For that same reason. And for what Aggro calls narcissism.

08 Adagio Bad Snowman
13 wdh That Course Killed my Game
11 Diva Emoticons
06 John Jenkins Budget Surplus
8 Adagio - This song's original lyrics just scream for parody and the fact that Adagio exploited this factor so brilliantly makes me have to vote again for this song. When
I first read this song at posting I experienced several ROTFLMAOs and many LOLs. That fact translates to a vote for number 8.
13 wdh - Once again my love for golf parodies wins out. If this parody were an actual golf shot it would result in at least an eagle.
11 Diva - Still have to go with the idea that this song is fresh and original. I like gimmicks in parody, it adds an extra dimension to the work and in this case extra means getting my vote.
6 John Jenkins - Writing a good American Pie parody is a feat in itself. It takes dedication and real work to bang one of these out. There have been many who have attempted it on the site to include myself. I have to say that this is one of the better efforts. My vote is going to reward that hard work and dedication.
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
I know how much this means to all, so I read these parodies extra-hard(as opposed to.....hard....) and think I'm finally ready to vote.
8- Bad Snowman
Both were very high quality parodies(all in the competition are), but I feel Adagio put in the extra effort, since Blighted by the Lice has the repetitive chorus thingy
13-That Course Killed my Game
I still crack up whenever I read it, whether I wrote it or not, a true golfer at heart, plus the truth in the song strikes a chord with all, because it's happened to the best of us.
11- Emoticions
Next? One of the greatest Diva wrote, and that's saying an awful lot.
2- Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Twinkie
Sorry John, but a Twinkie parody is a Twinkie parody. Need I say more?

6-had to give my vote to John on this one, aside from not knowing Spaff's song as well, but also, Im sure Spaff is gonna get plenty votes from others, so my vote won't affect the totals that much...nothing personal, Spaff

I apologize for this. This voter belongs in the other bracket. I've IM'd him about it and I'm sure he'll be voting in his bracket soon but meanwhile these votes don't count, though we can hold onto them on the off chance we don't get all our votes for this bracket. It seems I didn't make the instructions clear enough; over at the other bracket we still have 3 second round voters MIA. If anyone from this bracket would like to fill in as a guest voter I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Once again-- it came down to the merits of the parody
Tough one!
Adagio's was funnier, but Mari's also clever & a more difficult song to parody.
WHD very clever and funny, but Ricks song- very original & a more difficult song to parody.
What can I say, Agrimorfee? Like food--parodies seem better when someone else prepares them!
I love Spaffy, but John's was more difficult song.

2. 13 Sistine Ceiling's great, but I just lioved Course that Killed my game!
3.14 Emoticons is great, but YOur Pond/ All Frog people is great!
4. 2 Budget Surplus is good, by the twinkie one is hilarious, plus its a Spaff song, and all his are great!

11-Diva (the toughest choice)
6--John J
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
As usual, there were some tough choices, since I like them all. I also miss "Pee Our Test," Claude.
1 me – for difficulty & pacing. But "Bad Snowman" is way cool (pun intended).
5 Rick – for intricacy, message, flow, humor... and I'm an artist, not a golfer. But I thought that "Course" was really funny and a good story.
14 Agrimorfee – for pacing and the off-kilter quirkiness of it, although I appreciate the unusual subject 8) matter in both, and from two very talented writers.
2 Spaff – two very well-crafted parodies, but I'm going for the funny one this time.
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
In politics, it seems like we are frequently faced with picking the lesser of two evils. At amiright, in Claude’s March Madness, we are blessed (and tormented) with picking the more masterful of two masterpieces.
1 Blighted by the Lice – I voted for both of these in the first round so, obviously I like them both; but I am really impressed with Mary’s ability to handle the complex rhyming pattern of the original.
5 Sweat: Sistine Ceiling – Both topics, art and golf, are near and dear to me. Rick treats the Sistine Chapel with the reverence it deserves and wdh accurately describes golf as a frustrating challenge. Wdh does a wonderful job of sticking with the rhymes of the original, but I’m picking Michelangelo because Rick's lines are just a little more creative.
11 Emoicons - Two very creative parodies. I give Diva a slight advantage for educating me in an entertaining way.
6 Budget Surplus – The complete works of Spaff are probably better than the complete works of anybody else at amiright (and maybe anywhere else), but I’m going with #6 here partly because I’m #6.
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
Well, I had to take a little time away, so I have only looked around the site a little bit the last day or so (I had it up for a while earlier but was just kind of staring at the screen for the most part). I think I'd better post my "Bracket 2 - Round 2" votes before I forget. The only thing that's easier this time around is that there are only 4 matches to judge.
Match #1
#1 - I really like both these parodies, but I think "Blinded..." is a little stronger throughout than "Snowman". But just by the tip of a Bug Follicle...
Match #2
#13 - An EXTREMELY tough call to make here - "Sistine" is so intricate it's hard not to vote for it, but "That Course..." is just so incredibly accessible! As I commented before, this parody made me feel like I was there (and having a good time in spite of my mediocre Golf Game). While I'm blown away thinking about what old "Micky Angelo" did I can't really put myself in his painter pants and in this case the same carries over to Rick's work of art. It's at a bit of a different level from what I could conceive of creating. In the up close situation of judging these two side by side I got connected more by wdh's piece.
Match#3
#14 - This one's STILL got me laughing! Just call me "Paul Ribit-son", for now, anyway. I'm going with Agrimorfee's Funny Frog-Fest.
Match #4
#6 - Going with John J's "Budget Surplus" here. It's a tough call, but John's piece was SO complete that Spaff's "Twinkie" piece would have had to be "rolling on the floor and can't stop laughing" good to beat it, and I can't go that far with it.
Now all I need to do is figure out what I did with the note were I listed which of this bracket's songs I had not yet posted votes for in the regular voting section. I know I didn't get to some of them - wrote them down. So where is that note now?
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
I did not switch voters around. Mike and Jack accidentally voted here instead of Bracket 1. Their votes do not count. I already have #5, 11, and 6 advancing so only the first matchup--#1 vs. #8--is yet undecided. STG and Ethan still need to vote and I'm confident we will get them to at least vote on that one so we can begin voting on the next round by Sunday. The missing voters were obviously just confused so I would not hold any delays against them. Once this round is completed there will be two more Bracket 2 rounds and then the final vote between the two bracket winners. I hope to be finished completely by this time next week. Thank you all for your prompt voting.
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
We seem to be a little stuck here. I guess it was caused by the server being down Saturday.(guessing about this computer stuff - ??? )
Subject: Re: Bracket 2 Round 2 Voting Thread
Yeah, my guess is Ethan and STG tried but couldn't vote Saturday. I sent them both an IM this morning about it; if we don't hear from them today I'll ask for volunteers from the other bracket to give us our last two votes.
