Subject: Will Tong
Will,
I was recommending your Boot Newt site to a musician acquaintance, earlier today and what did I see when I went to your author page to double check that I was giving him the preferred URL? I saw that you'd passed the 1K mark with your Amiright submissions! Congrats!
Mel.

Will,
I don't know if we've ever exchanged three words - your parodies usually don't allow comments, and that's where I do most of my communicating with folks on Amiright.
Good show, Will, on reaching 1000+ posted parodies!
You provide an important political balance on Amiright - I think there's a pretty fair distribution of both the right and the left among the parody writers, with perhaps a slight preponderance on the right. I find it hard to categorize myself - I suppose I'm pretty liberal on most all social issues, and I'm always suspicious of whoever's in the White House, regardless of their party or political ideology - any group of people with that much power should be watched carefully by ALL citizens, whether liberal, conservative, moderate, libertarian, or librarian!
Again, congratulations, and keep your parodies coming!
JD

Thank you, Melhi and Johnny D.! I never thought I'd actually reach 1,000 parodies back in 1995, when I first started writing them. I like reading your parodies because we're similar in age and we like a lot of the same music. If you'd like to submit a political parody that fits into my Boot Newt web site, please e-mail it to me. Thanks!

I have always enjoyed your parodies, Will (especially the political ones). I love reading anti-Bush parodies; I've actually written a few myself.
Subject: Re: Will Tong
Hehe... yeah, I've written a couple too... both got mediocre scores, only one of which totally deserved the scores or worse ;-). Anyway, go you!
Subject: Re: Will Tong
Will, the sheer bulk of your Bush parodies is astonishing. I wonder why you don't allow comments on them.
Subject: Re: Will Tong
Thanks. Here's my explanation for generally disallowing comments on my political parodies: it's easy to see that comments on controversial parodies (Hey, do I write any of those? ;D) can quickly turn into off-topic/ad hominem flame wars. The comments system at Amiright allows people using anonymous signatures to take pot shots at me - I would end up spending more time defending myself than I would have writing new parodies. In the past, I took the time to write 17 parodies in response to past attack parodies directed at me, before the submittal rules were changed.
Nothing prevents any registered Amiright author/reader from sending comments to me through the private messaging system here.
