Subject: Your favorite Parody Artist
No copouts here. Feel free to explain why, but just one artist as your favorite. This could help new artists find some people that write well and help them see how to improve.
I'll start things off by saying that hands down my vote is for Claude Prez. His stuff absolutely cracks me up. It's always well placed, it's always clever, and he parodies stuff all over the board.

I'll give my vote to Claude Prez as well, for the same reasons described above :)
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I'd say wdh. His songs have great pacing and are usually very funny. Everyone should take a gander at his songs. ;D
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
hmm...Id say maybe Mike Armstrong with Spaff at a close seccond...(no offense, Claude ;D)

Wow. I'm a little shocked. To be honest I thought you guys hated my stuff until recently. I tend to balk at these threads because people get their feelings hurt when no one mentions them but if we're just naming one I doubt anyone will complain. It's probably no surprise to anyone that though there are a number of excellent writers here, I think Spaff (writer of 13 of the 20 songs on ELVES GONE WILD!! Available NOW at elvesgonewild.com!!) is in a league of his own as far as this place is concerned. His consistency and professionalism set him apart and he's the only one here whose stuff I constantly find intimidatingly good. There are others who floor me like that occasionally but he's the only one who ALWAYS does. It's my opinion that he's raised the bar since he came here and has influenced my writing a great deal (I'm thinking of getting a little "What Would Spaff Write?" necklace) He also appears to have a life which is pretty impressive in itself. Anyway, thanks Jordan and Rice for the amazing compliment.

None taken at all--That MJ song impressed the crap out of me; I just wish I was more familiar with more current songs. Or country songs. Or sports. But I bet if I look there's a few I know.
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I'm feeling Spaff's parodies right now. :)
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Hmmm... the professionalism of Spaff, the pacing of Guy, the overall-ness of Claude, the humor of Johnny D and the creativity of all four... ???... My vote goes to 'Claude DiRito.com D' with an added "let me get back to you in a couple of months, when I'll have been here for a couple+1 months and have a better overall understanding of the consistency of everyone."
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I'm seeing copouts....=) 1 name only please.
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Ya got me. Ok, my standing vote goes to Johnny D for his continued creative humor in everything I've seen by him in the past month. But please, lets do this again in a couple of months.
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I'd go with Syncronos.

2nz, you are too kind! God bless you. I hope my song parodies continue to live up to folks' expectations.

Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Based on this year's output, I'd have to say Claude, too: there's a quirkiness in his work to which I can really relate :-)
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Phil's my favorite, but Spaff and Claude are up there
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Johnny? You still didn't vote man. And your welcome. And if '23' get's stuck in my head one more time, I might have to reconsider. ;D
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Thanks to those who said nice things about me. There are a number of stellar parodists on this site, so it's always nice to be recognized. However, Claude's assertion that I have a life is a tabloid claim at best. Completely unsubstantiated.
As for my preferences, as self-appointed Prez of the Prez Fan Club, I think my views would be somewhat biased.
That said, before this turns into too much of a Claude 4 Prez love fest, you all should know that there have been some rumors circulating recently that need to be addressed:
(1) Claude entertains young children at his home, sometimes feeding them hot cocoa and frequently allowing them to spend the entire night.
(2) Claude has been seen driving slowly through strange neighborhoods, often approaching the same strangers' homes repeatedly - every day in some cases. Sometimes he even rifles through their mail.
(3) Claude acts as boss/pimp to a group of typists in sweatshop conditions; they are severely underpaid and usually stuck in the same room. To get around labor laws, he employs simians.
While I agree with the notion of "innocent until proven guilty" (except when it applies to people whose politics I dislike), I'm not opposed to a rush to judgment. At the very least, I demand a full inquiry.

I vote for THE MIGHTY SPAFF, with very, very, VERY honorable mention for Guy DiRito and Claude Prez.

Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
There are quite a few Hoosiers out there, including myself. The parody output from our state seems to be pretty high, I guess writing songs beats shearing sheep.
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Ha Ha...Im from New York ::)
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Yeah, me too. From that long, island-like part. We're known for two things: not standing still...ever and iced tea ;D.
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
i'm from long island too, and so are the florios, but i go to school in amish country
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist

Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist

Hofstra sports suck lol..they were actully offering class credit for anyone that actully came to a football game........
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I'd be all over that. Bad football = good tailgating, and Maryland football in the early nineties was bad
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Malcolm Higgins, myself, Merry and Pippin, etc. I have a lot, LOL

Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I like me! And Saider Eiegle is alright.
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
I can't pick a most favorite. I think most everyone has something to offer, that is likeable. I can't think of too many writers, that have little , or no talent at all. I enjoy the pallet of different styles of parodies and the different writers that create them. The spectrum is a vast expanse of humor.

So do I have this straight - S.T.G. and Melhi and Claude Prez are all from the Hoosier State? And here I thought the funniest thing to come from Indiana was Michael Jackson....
Subject: Re: Your favorite Parody Artist
Besides myself??... ::) j/k
My favorite Amiright parody artist has got to be Jeff Ruben/Buchoff because his parodies are about very serious subjects that we deal with in life: Having to pee really bad, having to scoop up your cat's poop, going to McDonald's, etc. His parodies are poetry to me.
My favorite non-Amiright parody artists are Weird Al, Bob Rivers, and most anybody from Dr. Demento. Ray Stevens's "Guitarzan" is a riot! :D
