I voted survival mode only because it'll be 5 days before Christmas and I'll probably STILL be worrying about what to get my family for the holiday.  :-\\

I read an interseting article in the Sunday paper explaining why the Mayan calendar is not predicting the end of the world.

So its to do with the way they counted and numbered their years.  Just like we split time into days, weeks, months, years, decades and centuries, they split them into days, weeks, months, years and then other spans of time (I forget exactly what mulitples of years it was).  Anyway the December 2012 date is simply the last day of the largest block of time they have (like December 31st 1999).  Except instead of going up another 1 in year numbers their calendar resets to year zero.

I know some believers would say I'm speaking too soon, but honestly... the Mayan calender doesn't even have leap years and looked like it worked in cycles.

Plus Celestia and Luna are still doing their jobs, so yeah... We're good.

The chaos would be due to people who thought the world was ending deciding to do illegal crap because they thought they could get away with it.

Although the shopping I'm doing is small in number anyway and it's not the 24th yet, so I won't have to deal with the Christmas Eve business rush when shopping.
