I rarely use astrology to predict specific global events.

This year, however, a series of astrological events will occur that I believe warrant special attention.

I interpret the symbolism of these astrological events by making the following prediction:

IN 2009, ON ONE OR MORE OCCASIONS, THERE WILL BE SUDDEN GLOBAL MASS COMMUNICATIONS PERTAINING TO LARGE-SCALE EVENTS IN THE WORLD'S OCEANS.

"SUDDEN" indicates an element of surprise, of the unexpected - not merely another news story about how global warming is gradually raising ocean levels, but something surprising, unexpected, sudden.

"MASS COMMUNICATIONS" indicates the news media and associated telecommunications systems.

"LARGE-SCALE EVENTS IN THE WORLD'S OCEANS" indicates such possible phenomena as tsunamis, hurricanes, sudden sea level rise due to sudden loss of ice sheets in Antarctica and/or Greenland, sudden changes in ocean currents that affect global weather patterns, etc.

I am sharing this prediction in a messageboard posting so that my prediction will be time-stamped as having been made before the event.

This year, however, a series of astrological events will occur that I believe warrant special attention.

No, I'm not referring to that particular event.

My prediction consists of only the words in all-upper-case letters in my original posting on this topic: “IN 2009, ON ONE OR MORE OCCASIONS, THERE WILL BE SUDDEN GLOBAL MASS COMMUNICATIONS PERTAINING TO LARGE-SCALE EVENTS IN THE WORLD’S OCEANS.”

As we all know, words can be interpreted many different ways!

My all-upper-case keywords are just that - keywords - nothing more.

“SUDDEN” is self-explanatory.  “GLOBAL MASS COMMUNICATIONS” is also pretty self-explanatory.

“LARGE-SCALE EVENTS IN THE WORLD’S OCEANS” is open to an “oceanic” range of equally-valid interpretations!

I agree that the group of keywords “LARGE-SCALE EVENTS IN THE WORLD’S OCEANS” can be interpreted as representing constructive events, destructive events, or some combination of both constructive events and destructive events.

In my original posting, I mentioned things like tsunamis, hurricanes, ocean levels rising due to ice sheet phenomena, and weather patterns changing due to ocean currents.  None of those things were part of the keywords. I stand by the literal set of all-upper-case keywords in my prediction --- and I acknowledge that different people will interpret those keywords differently.

As for the specific dates, I based them on a combination of intuition, transiting mundane lunar conjunctions, transiting mundane lunar oppositions, and partile outer planet mundane aspects.

Specific dates are not very useful, I admit --- mundane aspects can be pre-partile or post-partile and still manifest as events due to their orb and midpoint relationships to sensitive points in the natal charts of the myriad of entities involved in such events.  The specific dates I provided are merely guidelines based on pure ephemeris mathematics, nothing more.  I gave enough information to enable any astrologer to find, in an ephemeris, my rationale for those dates.

The core of my prediction is the current mundane mutual reception of Uranus in Neptune-ruled Pisces with Neptune in Uranus-ruled Aquarius.  The mundane transiting conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune amplifies (Jupiter) the oceanic (Neptune and Pisces) symbolism carried on the electronic airwaves of mass communication (Aquarius and Uranus).  Uranus, the source of surprise, is floating in the ocean of Pisces.  Neptune, the ruler of the ocean of Pisces, is being carried on the electronic airwaves of Uranus-ruled Aquarius.  Note, also, that Aquarius is the Water Bearer, which represents the air waves (electronic mass communication) bearing water-related (Water Bearer) thought-forms (air sign).

The timing of my prediction is based, as I said above, on two things.  One is a sequence of mundane transiting lunar conjunctions and oppositions to the mundane transiting Jupiter/Neptune conjunction.  The Moon is deeply linked, symbolically, with both the oceans and with the public’s mass emotional consciousness.  The other timing components are the times when the mundane Jupiter/Neptune conjunction is partile, and when the mundane Jupiter/Uranus semi-sextile is partile. 

Jupiter is critical here because it amplifies and expands the Neptunian symbolism (hence “LARGE SCALE” and “WORLD’S OCEANS“) and because it is the traditional ruler of Pisces, which makes the mundane transiting Jupiter/Neptune conjunction a super-concentrated and powerful symbol of the world’s oceans --- which, through Pisces, links to Uranus, which is floating in the ocean of Pisces and surprising the world with ocean-related electronic mass communications.

May 7: 2010: A stunning "parade" of over ten thousand toads on a street in Chengdu, China, stretching over 200 meters long, aroused public jitters over possible upcoming tremors on Tuesday in Sichuan province, where a powerful earthquake jolted in 2008, killing tens of thousands. A similar toad exodus took place during the days preceding that cataclysmic earthquake.

May 26, 2010: A 6.5 earthquake is reported in Brazil.

May 26, 2010: A 7.5 earthquake rocks the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, prompting a tsunami alert.

May 26, 2010: The latest attempt to stop the unbelievably catastrophic oil leak tainting the Gulf of Mexico is a colossal failure, as almost forty days have passed since the beginning of the disaster, with no end in sight.

May 27, 2010: Maoist terrorists take credit for sabotaging a high-speed Indian passenger train, resulting in over sixty deaths, with the death toll expected to rise.

May 27, 2010: More saber-rattling on the Korean peninsula, as South Korea blames the North for torpedoing a submarine, killing sixty-eight on board, and North Korea claims to “destroy any and all aggressors”.

May 28, 2010: Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom has declared a state of emergency after a powerful eruption at the southern Pacaya volcano killed one person and forced the international airport to close.

May 28, 2010: Thousands flee as a volcano in the South American nation of Ecuador also erupts on the same day as a volcano in Guatemala.

May 29, 2010: Workers evacuated from North Sea oil rig as Norwegian engineers pump cement into offshore well to prevent explosion after a dangerous methane gas build-up is detected.

May 29, 2010: A fire blazing at an Iranian oil rig after a methane gas explosion may take up to one month to extinguish, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported on Sunday.
Three oil workers were killed and at least 10 injured when the fire broke out at well number 24 at the Naft Shahr oil field early on Saturday.

May 30, 2010: Tropical Storm Agatha has killed at least 86 people in Guatemala, as drenching rain, mudslides and floods also left many more missing and forced thousands to flee their homes, officials said, as two separate volcanoes, Pacaya and Santiaguito continue to remain in high eruption mode, creating two national emergencies for the Central American nation.

May 30, 2010: The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is warning residents on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia, that an unusual combination of low pressure systems is creating dangerous weather conditions, with hazardous gale-force winds and torrentially heavy rain expected. Winds reaching in excess of 130 KMP are forecast for the region, prompting weather and travel advisories for all of the state.

May 31, 2010:  Israeli commandos storm six ships carrying hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists on an aid mission to the blockaded Gaza Strip, killing at least 10 people and wounding dozens, as Turkey and other countries issued loud and angry condemnations and warnings regarding the attack.

May 31, 2010:  A giant ash plume from an eruption volcano on Vanuatu threatens to close down air space. Meantime, an underwater volcanic eruption has led to a state of disaster being declared across the entire Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. The governor, Benigno Fitial, declared the state of disaster following a loud explosion at the active submarine volcano on the island of Sarigan, located about 175 kilometres north of Saipan. A huge smoke plume was seen over the island on the weekend. As a result sea and air traffic has been severely affected.
