Hello to the community. I am a new member from Colchester in England.

In the mid 1970's (I was around 8) my dad entered a competition in a boxing magazine (The Ring I think) to win a boxing toy. Several months later a large parcel arrived out of the blue (with no covering letter) and it was the prize - we had won. It was a large, plastic yellow boxing ring with two fighters in the middle, one red and the other blue. The idea was to push use your controls on the outside of the ring to throw uppercut punches in order to try and knock the opponent's head upward. I think I remember that they made a noise when this happened. I seem to remember the game being fairly frenetic. Anyway, over the passage of time, I forgot all about it until, there it appeared in the film Toy Story.

I have been recently interested in looking for the game's name and the manufacturer at the time - even to add to the list of toys that people remember in the 1970s. I am also uncertain as to how popular this toy was in the UK. I would like to think that I was one of a select number in the UK that got access to a toy that was mainly sold in the US market.  Anyway, I'd love to hear of any memories of the same toy. I've tried looking on the net (and found this site) for any references to the game in the Toy Story forums, so far without success. Thank you for your interest.

There are many other members from England here at this site. Hope you enjoy the place. The Rock Em Sock Em Robots were a fun toy for kids and quite popular in the US, the tv commercial slogan I believe was "I'll knock your block off"  8)
