Subject: Greetings from Manchester England
Hi guys n gals. Just surfed onto this board after our UK based one collapsed. (Long story) anyway, I'm from Manchester England, play in an 80s tribute band, and know (nearly) all there is to know about UK 80s music. Hopefully, I can offer something to your community!
My band site(which is due for updating) is here ... www.neon-neon.co.uk there is also a section of the site called Professor 80, where we answer any 80s related music questions.
Fav bands?
The Smiths
Duran
Soft Cell
The Stranglers
Heaven 17
And, well, most things 80s really .... and of course the MADchester sound. I have a few personal friends who were in big bands of the time, so any questions on The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, New Order, The Smiths etc, I'm your man!

PS, can anyone advise on a problem I have here.
Ii come to the site. Sign in (as ChrisA) then go to a partic forum and try to post. However, the forum always says welcome guest - as if I have not logged in. So I then log in again, this is acknowledged, but when I go to a forum, it again says 'welcome guest'.
I'm going round in circles it seems!!!!

Welcome!
You mentioned many bands I really like. Inspiral Carpets' Two World Collide is a brilliant song. What's going on with Shaun Ryder from Happy Mondays nowadays? I know he started Black Grape a few years back, but haven't heard a whole lot other than that.

HI guys, thanks for the welcome!

As for questions, right. I know Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets writer/vocalist) well. In fact he lives 5 mins from me. Good news is that after years of wrangling between him and Clint Boon (keys/co-writer) they have at last made up, and have reformed the carpets for an album tour next year. I have been to a rehearsal and despite a few rough edges, it is sounding good. America? Maybe ....see how the UK tour goes.
Sean Ryder? Currently opted out of music scene, and focussing on 'poetry'. The idea is for him to come back to music after a year, however, his drug addictions are really taking their toll on Sean and he is regularly in hospital. Fingers crossed on a recovery.
