(Catchy tune! I'll leave the other one for someone else to take a shot at in case anyone finds this post through the usual noise.)
Luke Doucet & the White Falcon - Thinking People (2010)
I woke up this morning, people,
On time and punctual.
Everybody was running too fast
It's just not natural
And so I put my head back down.
I can't live a life that I don't own.
Working people make the world go 'round and 'round.
And so I called my local MP, "Situation critical!"
He said "I have no master plan but I'm sure the solution's biblical!"
And so I put the phone back down.
I can't follow God if He's never home.
Thinking people make the world go 'round and 'round.
Thinking people losing ground, they're losing ground.
One day they gonna find you,
And everybody's gonna know you,
All the people wanna hurt you, (?)
Don't want 'em dating, won't need you, (?)
And nobody's gonna miss you.
When I look into the city,
At all the faces and the shoes,
I gotta wonder, I gotta question,
Are those the colors of the blues?
But I put my nose back down.
I can't see where it is I'm going to.
Working people make the world go 'round and 'round.
Working people losing ground, they're losing ground.

I listened to the mp3 and those lines were clearer there, so I fixed 'em. Thanks, that saves me a ton of time.

Thanks for the corrections; I agree with 'em. Not having heard the song before, I botched "watch" and "'til one day" - but even on YouTube audio quality it's obvious you heard it correctly. (And it makes way more sense than mine did!)

another one I need... I can't place my finger on who they sound like, R.E.M. or maybe The Smiths.
