Saw this on Yahoo and thought it was an interesting read.

There's a science behind misheard lyrics/mondegreens.
There are lots of possible reasons we misinterpret lyrics:
1. Poor enunciation
2. The "signal" is "muddled with background music, rhythms, and syllabification (dividing words into syllables)."
3. Poor resolution/fidelity
4. You're listening to the radio, and the signal is weak
5. Poor/cheap/lousy equipment
6. Not paying enough attention to lyrics; distractions
7. Hearing problems

Definitely hearing the lyrics with loud music behind them does not help.
