Subject: Producer mentions/references in songs
Written By: Stompgal on 02/01/10 at 2:51 pm
Very recently, I have noticed that quite a few bands and artists have name-checked producers in their songs. For example, Red One is mentioned in 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga; 'About a Girl' by Sugababes; 'Broken Heels' by Alexandra Burke and 'Fire Burning' by Sean Kingston. A similar thing occurs in other songs. At the beginning of Jason Derulo's 'Whatcha Say' and 'In My Head;' 'Everybody in Love' by JLS and 'Replay' by Iyaz, a voice saying, "J-J-J-J-JR" can be heard. This is a reference to the South African-Ameican producer Jonathan Rotem. His name also appears at the beginning of the video for 'Whatcha Say.'
