Subject: Meaning of "Trail Of Broken Hearts" by Dragonforce?

Can anyone figure out the meaning of this power ballad? I've heard some people say it is about a man who had to commit suicide to escape a tragic part of his life, and I've heard others say it is about Jesus Christ looking back on his life while dying on Calvary. Help is very appreciated. Here are the lyrics:
