Subject: 'Sing now, sing me a river'...

Written By: chilli on 08/21/07 at 11:32 am

AOR anthem of the 80s/90s, heard it on an FM station in Cape Cod a couple of weeks ago and now I'm back in Britain I'm under intense family pressure to identify it.

The lyric I've quoted, which is obviously wrong, is the beginning of a repeated anthemic chorus. The artist is out of the John Farnham / Eric Carmen /Chris Isaak school and it's driving me nuts.

I don't even know if I like it - please help  :-[

Could it possibly be "Dream On" by Aerosmith?

Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay

I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life's in books' written pages
Lived and learned from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All these things come back to you

{Refrain}
Sing with me, sing for the years
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away

Yeah, {Refrain}

Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream until your dreams come true
{Repeat}
Dream on, dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on, dream on, ahhhh

(And may I recommend Spaff's wonderful parody of the song + Robert Lund recording)
