Subject: Need help identidying a song
Written By: Sadiq M on 08/29/06 at 5:26 pm
I was recently on a vacation through Thomas Cook Airlines and was listening to there radio station and I heard this song but they never mentioned the title or name:
I vafuely some of the lyrics of the song.
The start of the song ( within the first verse) mentions something about someone picking up a sister or picking up an older sisters younger sister in a purple chevy ( it could have been pink chevy but i am positive it was purple).
The chorus of the songs going something like this:
" how low, how low, how low can you go?" its either that or " how long, how long, how long can you go" and then there are some other lyrics after that which I do not remember.
Some other lyrics in the song also go along the lines of:
" too fast, too slow how low/long can you go?"
And there is another line that I believe goes:
" too fat, too thin" and then some lyrics under that.
I know this iis very vague but hopefully someone can help me out. The music sounds like some sort of rock music not really hard rock but soft rock. Maybe a rock-pop kind of song. It seems as if there is a band with 1 lead singer singing the song, or its a band with 2 singers. It sounds like it was done in the 80s though.
Thanks,
Sadiq Motani

Not sure if this is it because there was a song about 'getting higher baby, get higher baby'...called 'White Lines'
For some reason I wonder if they said 'low' in it somewhere?

The song is "Misfit" by Curiosity Killed The Cat
Sensitive child
keep running wild in a confined space
You're not to blame 'cause you're not the same
get on the case.
Crazy sheep
you are the odd one out
Crazy sheep
let them know what you're all about.
Misfit
freak that's on the street
Well I can see the sorrow in your eyes.
How long
how low
how high can you go
There'll be a bind for every kind
you'll see.
Sensitive child
your threat is so mild
it worries me.
Build yourself some protection to avoid the injection
Then you can be happy.
Crazy sheep
you are the odd one out
Crazy sheep
let them know what you're all about.
Misfit
freak that's on the street
Now I can see the sorrow in your eyes. . . .
Set your mode to emotion
your secret potion
Designed to satisfy your soul
And underneath your broken dreams
you need to satisfy your soul.
Misfit
freak that's on the street
Now I can see the sorrow in your eyes. . . .
Too fat
too thin
you lose or you win
This may come as some surprise.
Too tall
too short
too loose or too taut
There'll be a bind for every kind.
Misfit
freak that's on the street
Now I can see the sorrow in your eyes. . . .
Too fat
too thin
you lose or you win
. . .
You're got to satisfy your soul
And underneath your broken dreams
you need to satisfy your soul.

Googling "purple chevy" +lyrics finds this page - a Was (Not Was) song. The first line is
Little Rita and her sister Bette
Met some mook who drove a purple Chevy
but it doesn't seem to have the 'how low' bit.
If this is the right song perhaps you could post your misheard lyric on www.amiright.com
