There's a new karma system on the website. If you have 100 or more posts, you can award someone for helping you by clicking the applaud link under their name.
If you posted a question, and you're a guest or new member, reply in the thread and ask someone to award a point for you.
If you're a member with 100 or more posts, and want to award a karma point on someone's behalf, make sure you respond to the thread and let everyone know you gave out a point on their behalf (otherwise people might get dozens of karma points for just one correct answer!)

I enjoy applauding those who have good things to say.
I also believe, however, that there should be something for those who insist on focussing on negative aspects.

There used to be a "smite" option (negative karma), but it has long since been removed, which is a good thing judging how my karma has increased nada in the last month. Not that I care about it too much or anything....
I recently got a thank you PM from someone who I helped track down song lyrics, which is better than a karma point anyday.
