Subject: Looking for 80's/90's song. Please Help!
Written By: Matthew on 08/04/05 at 9:35 pm
Hi. I am looking for a early to late 80's to early to late 90's song. I don't know the name of the song but I only know a couple phrases of the chorus. The phrases of the chorus actually come at the end and the ones that I THINK I hear:
"Let the wheels keep turning" , "over the hands of steel", " my burning desire", "taking me higher and higher" I hear these alot in the chorus. I usually hear first in the chorus
"Let me hear the" or Let the wheels keep turning" . I am not sure what the exact words are but thats what it sounds like. The person who does it sounds
like Richatrd Marx or Bryan Adams but I know for a fact it is not them. The song is definitely sung by a male and it starts out with someone playing a keyboard I think. This song can be heard on most lite rock or rock stations. It is not heavy metal or alternative
If anybody has any ideas of what this might be, please let me know. I am anxious to figure out what this song is.
Thanks

It's definitely that U2 song, but I can't tell you which one just now because my U2 cd collection is at work.

Yeah, I think it's U2's song "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," from Joshua Tree, but I still haven't heard it to check -- I will tomorrow at work.
The lyrics are at: http://frogcircus.org/u2/the_joshua_tree/i_still_havent_found_what_im_looking_for
but they don't list the background vocals.

Is it U2 "Even Better The The Real Thing"
Give me one more chance
And you'll be satisfied
Give me two more chances
You won't be denied
Well, my heart is where it's always been
My head is somewhere in between
Give me one more chance
Let me be your lover tonight
Oh yeah, check it out
You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Child
Give me one last chance
And I'm gonna make you sing
Give me half a chance
To ride on the waves that you bring
You're honey child to a swarm of bees
Gonna blow right through you like a breeze
Give me one last dance
We'll slide down the surface of things
You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Child
We're free to fly the crimson sky
The sun won't melt our wings tonight
Oh now, oooh yeah...here she comes
Take me higher
Take me higher
Can you take me higher?
Will you take me higher?
You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing

John Parr - St Elmos Fire
Growin' up
You don't see the writin' on the wall
Passin' by
Movin' straight ahead you knew it all
But maybe sometime if you feel the pain
You'll find you're all alone
Everything has changed
Play the game
You know you can't quit until it's won
Soldier on
Only you can do what must be done
You know in some way
You're a lot like me
You're just a prisoner
And you're tryin' to break free
CHORUS:
I can see a new horizon
Underneath the blazin' sky
I'll be where the eagle's
Flyin' higher and higher
Gonna be your man in motion
All I need is a pair of wheels
Take me where my future's lyin'
St. Elmo's Fire
Oooh...
Burnin' up
Don't know just how far that I can go
(Just how far I go)
Soon be home
Only just a few miles down the road
I can make it
I know I can
You broke the boy in me
But you won't break the man
(CHORUS)
I can climb the highest mountain
Cross the wildest sea
I can feel St. Elmo's Fire burnin' in me
Burnin' in me
Just once in his life
A man has his time
And my time is now
And I'm comin' alive
I can hear the music playin'
I can see the banners fly
Feel like you're back again
And hope ridin' high
Gonna be your man in motion
All I need is a pair of wheels
Take me where my future's lyin'
St. Elmo's Fire
(CHORUS)
I can climb the highest mountain
Cross the wildest sea
I can feel St. Elmo's Fire burnin' in me
Burnin'
Burnin' in me
I can feel it burnin'
Oooh, burnin' inside of me
<Fade>
