I don't have much info to go on other than it was a country song & I believe it was also recorded as a rock & roll song.  Both were recorded in the 1990's.  I think some of the words in the song were "keep the light burning" or "keep the living room light on".  It may have even said something about the "front door unlocked".  The song reminds me of Trace Adkins' song "Every Light In The House Is On", but it's not this title nor singer.  HELP!   :-\\

Arrgh !
Somewhere in the back of my mind I know who this is. It all sounds familiar.
But the only thing I can think of which sounds like it could be Grandaddy - Now It's On (but this was released in 2003 not in the 90's)
This'll be bugging me too if it ain't Grandaddy.
